BlazBlue pisses me off.

The fact that the ONLY way to unlock unlimited modes for some characters in the original and the only way to unlock some characters in the sequel is through DLC is bullshit. Especially THREE characters. Especially when two of them are the Six Heroes.

Oh, I'll buy the DLC, don't get me wrong.

But what happens 20 years from now when I still have the disk and the system and its marketplace are no longer supported?

That's why I liked the SF4 DLC. It was all just costume packs for otakus to jack off to. Nothing critical. And that's the way it should be with a fighting game.

in the pal-version (wich i own) you can unlock all unlimited modes just by playing through the arcade mode. But who needs them, you can not play online unlimited so they never tempted me.

The price of the DLC will be a large factor in whether or not I decide to pick up BB:CS. I liked the original, but never found it as engrossing as SF 4 or Tekken 6. If I have to spend a boatload for more characters that may not be tournament supported due to them being DLC, I'll probably pass on the game altogether.

I don't know if this warrants my purchase honestly.

I like/play/own the original, but it doesn't feel dated or anything like that to me yet. Essentially, I feel a sequel is too soon. Also, this better not be a $60 game...definitely not enough new content to justify that.

And yea, DLC characters are bullshit, they should be fucking free. I didn't mind purchasing Yoda as DLC on SCIV for my PS3 since he was the "360 exclusive" character, and since it's vice-versa with Vader for 360 owners. That was it though.

...I'll probably end up getting it at some point though...

Exactly.

I was also willing to forgive Midway, had they released DLC characters for MKvDCU, because they were on the verge of bankruptcy and they had to get the game out.

Yea, they were really banking on that game being more successful...

Despite tepid reviews, it did pretty well. But when that's your only successful property out if like 20, you're in trouble.

The unlimited characters were available for in-game purchase on the PSP version, and they will be unlockable on the game disc for Continuum Shift by beating arcade and/or story mode with desired character. I don't think the unlimited characters with the exception of Ragna, Hakumen, and Nu-13 were originally planned for Calamity Trigger. When they were made for the PSP version they just decided to port them.

For sure, Noel Vermilion was always my main squeeze in BB.

If Arc is following the Guilty Gear model, this will be the first of many revisions. Many, many revisions. I also can't help but that this is being done to keep the series relevant in player's minds. As good as the game is, it can't hold a candle in comparison to SSF4 in popularity and for the BB community to pass up a spot at EVO 10 was fucking retarded.

Why would they do such a thing?

From what a friend told me, they pulled out since the arcade community had already moved onto CS despite the console release being a month after EVO and didn't want to waste time on a dead game.

What they should have said is that 90% of the community stole the fucking game once the arcade rom came out and would rather be able to officially play that instead of BB:CT. Yeah, makes no sense to me either. Freaking Melty Blood got played at EVO and BB didn't? Whatever man.

I liked the first game but it didn't capture me like Guilty Gear or Tekken but it's got it's own following of people which I haven't seen with to many fighting games in the past couple of years.

Lol, that's also not my point. Arc/Aksys has to do something to keep people interested in BB, BB's quality alone at this point won't do it.

It has its audience. And Aksys apparently makes money publishing it stateside, so good for them. I really hope DeathSmiles sells well enough that DeathSmiles II gets ported over here.

So...

AkSys recently stated at some event that Valkenhyne will be the next available DLC character.

I found my new favorite thing.

And you should check out the COMIC! Especially this one, which is a joke translation of a Blazblue manga released in Japan.
