We've seen so many good bands come out during 2006, And we all have such different tastes (IE, If you disagree with anything I ever say your life is forfeit)

1. Priestess - Lay Down
Priestess has a feminine name, and it's funny because
the band is everything but feminine - From it's classic riffs
or awesome lyrics the only reason you wouldn't like Priestess is if your JEW, but he hates everything so we kind of understand

2. The Protomen - (Self titled CD)
I first heard of The Protomen via a friend on Hg101
I was a bit skeptic at first a Megaman Rock Opera? You have to be kidding me.
Then I heard the album and well, The only reason you have to not own this album yet
is that you think you might be a french guy, or you cant afford the 10$ price tag

3. Thula (thularock.com)
Not technically having an album yet, Thula wins this spot
for having some of the best punk/jazz/metal/rock songs in history
taking experience from virtually every type of rock and roll to things like jazz
creates an awesome band, It's a good thing the lead singer Dean is as awesome as he is.

4. 30 seconds to mars
I dont care if you dislike this band you cant disagree that
From Yesterday is an amazing song.
Yes, I'd only heard about them last year.

5. Metroid Metal - Super Metroid Metal (http://www.metroidmetal.com/)
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

This requires way too much work on my part, so I'll let iTunes do the work for me. Smartlist --> Year 2006.

1. Epicon - Globus
The commercial release of "movie trailer" music. I still marvel at how pop music and large orchestral movements were merged into this oddity. Not all the songs came together, but overall it was the best breakout album I heard all year.

2. Straight Outta Lynwood - "Weird Al" Yankovic
After "Poodle Hat's" underwhelming effect, Weird Al came back with full force. And for the first time since the UHF soundtrack, it seemed the album actually had a theme, best represented by the track one song: "White & Nerdy". The album is incomplete as "You're Pitiful" was left off, which would have secured that point. Without it, the album could be considered a representation of the downfall of America in the new millennium. Al mocks music piracy, music that are hardly songs, the new digital fear, perversion and objectifying women, and commercializing meaningless (and even tragic) excuses of national pride. Plus, it's just a fun album to listen to.

3. Lost Season One - Michael Giacchino
Took awhile for the soundtrack to come out, but it was probably the best score I heard all year. The fact it was done for a television show is a real blow to cinema soundtracks. Unlike most modern scores, Giacchino works and develops themes the same way John Williams does. "Lost: S1" works as a separate entity from the show and a fine listen on its own merits.

4. End of an Era - Nightwish
Although the album is merely a recording the band's 2005 live performance, the CD was not made available until 2006. This was literally the last time the band was really together as the day after the concert lead singer Tarja Turunen was kicked out. The album itself is an incredible show of the band's highlights .

5. Undecided

"If you will not tell me, I will hurt people!!!" -Nuclear Man

"Do you hear? The alpha and the omega. Death and rebirth. And as you die, so will I be reborn!" - Skeletor

Super Metroid Metal has been in the works for a long time, I know Stemage released a few new songs this year, but it's still a couple year old project. Good musics, either way.

And the only album I listened to that came out in '06 was The World on Four Strings, by Ljova. Since no one here is into acoustic folk, I'll spare you the details.

There never was an image here, what the fuck are you talking about?

Thanks for the lead, I'm checkin' them out. Very nice stuff. Reminds me of some messed up animated shorts I've seen.

I actually have You're Pitiful, and it would complete the album. Other than that, I didn't listen to any 2006 albums.

You Smash It, We'll Build Around It- The Outline
Albatross- The Classic Crime
St. Elsewhere- Gnarls Barkley
Define The Great Line- UnderOath
Oh! Gravity- Switchfoot

Wow. I guess these are the best 5 albums I have from 2006, but I only have about 10...so not much to choose from. I guess I'll look into all the ones y'all post to see if any are worth gettin'

PlayPtation 3- $600
Xbox 360- $400

Since I'm a stubborn bastard, I don't listen to new music. I can list one album that I heavily appreciate and just plain think rocks the gods.

"Night Ripper" - Girl Talk

As a basis, you have to respect this guy for his arranging abilities. Even though probably about half the basis is rap/R&B, I still love listening to it based on the technique used in the arranging and layering of it.

RIP Hacker.

I don't have a list. But I have one album would be in one...
Jay-Z's Kingdom Come

I thought Jay-Z retired, but I knew he would come back.

I liked "Lost Ones" off that album...

And Gnarls Barkley would be on my list, too ^^

I like that song, but I heard the rest of that album and it wasn't much for me. Crazy would get old if I heard it over and over, I'm sure... but luckily, I only hear once in a great while, so it's still fresh.

Foo Fighters - Skin and Bones, because I'm a fan of the band. Good live album in my opinion though.

I also liked the new Chili Peppers album, though in retrospect, I think it pales in comparison to stuff like Blood Sugar Sex Magik. But it's still better than One Hot Minute.

The Muse album, Black Holes And Revelations, was pretty good too. Not as good as Absolution though.

And finally, the last album I really gave a crap about was the Army of Anyone album. Not as great as a Stone Temple Pilots album like Core or Purple, but it was still pretty good.
