Whereas the Sean Penns and George Clooneys of the world generally limit their political and environmental activism to platitudes and smugness, Kevin Costner actually does stuff.
In 1995, he bought Ocean Therapy Solutions. Since then, he has spent $24 million and 15 years using Ocean Therapy Solutions to develop oil separation machines. But no one has really shown an interest in them. Until now. Costner lent five of his machines to BP, and they were so impressed with them that they ordered 32.
Now, that's commitment. Until now, Costner has seen absolutely no return on his investment. And yet, he stuck with it. And now, it's going to payoff, not just for him, but for everybody. Kudos, Kevin Costner. Kudos.

I'm starting to suspect that Kevin Costner had something to do with that oil rig blowing up. Think about it, no return on his invest for 15 years? Sounds like someone started to get desperate...

Between the money the oil spill has cost and the losses on Waterworld, Costner just might have caused more $$ in damage than any other human being in history.
