Happy Birthday to the character that gave me my favorite SydLexia article!

I always prefered Ms. PacMan for some reason.

Maybe cause it had more pretty colors.

Software Firm Estimates Google Pac-Man Resulted in $120 Million in Lost Productivity

Google's tribute to Pac-Man turned out to be the perfect distraction for workers across the country.
In a report by the BBC, software firm Rescue Time said that the playable logo boosted search times from 11 seconds to 36 seconds in its pool of 11,000 users.

That might not seem like much, but by extrapolating that figure up to the 504 million unique users who visit Google every day, that figure jumps to some 4.8 million hours. According to Rescue Time, that equates to roughly $120 million in lost productivity.

Google created the game by reworking their logo into a playable Pac-Man course. It was possible to play by clicking the "insert coin" button, but Rescue Time believes that only a minority of players realized that was possible.

Nevertheless, it seems that Google has once again done its part in undermining productivity across America.

Just $120 million?

Maybe in 2016 they'll do a Mario tribute in the same vein.

Fortunately, I'm not that essential in my firm's daily proceedings

Happy belated birthday, Pac-Man! You helped to killed many of those boring, lonely moments of my childhood.

Well, probably it was more Ms. Pac-Man, but it's all because of you, really.

Original Pac-Man Design Sketches, Circa 1979, Surface Online

The guy in the image above is Toru Iwatani, the creator of Pac-Man, and in his hands are two of the original concept sketches he drew while developing the original arcade game.

The sketches date back to either late 1979 or early 1980, and are in remarkable condition. Iwatani brought the sketches with him to the NLGD Festival of Games in the Netherlands earlier this month, where he received an award from the Guinness World Records, which has acknowledged Pac-Man as having the most coin-operated arcade machines installed world wide.

These photos originate from a blog called Control (via Kotaku), and are reproduced here for the sake of historical preservation (and because these are just too cool not to show you).

1) Why the fuck is it so blurry?
2) Pac-Man looks too girly.
3) Pac-Man sounds too girly.

They should have kept his voice and style from the Pac-Man World series. Game fails. I pass. Also, platform?

How the fuck am I supposed to know that? Neither the poster or the video game any indication either way. But the GameTrailers logo at the outset would suggest that it was, I don't know, a GAME TRAILER.

Since it's a bootleg capture on site, my guess is it's blurry because it's 3D.

I thought it was for a video game as well. It looks like it is since it was at E3, says 'Gametrailers' in the opening, and ends with a Namco Bandai Games Incorporated Copyright message. Plus, it's been posted in the Video Game section. However, the poster on youtube says it's for a TV show. Looks like it's going to be a 3D TV show, according to a half-assed google-search.

Yeah, sorry about not clarifying this. A 2nd attempt at a Pac-man cartoon.

Premise doesn't seem so bad, but again, don't like the voice or art direction of Pac-Man. And this will almost definitely gets its own game regardless of success or failure.

I hate how they changed his eyes, I mean sure...it retains the original Pac Man shape, but it's not as obvious as it was before. The voice is totally gay too.
