Why does every movie where the protagonist is transported through time to he future have said protagonist end up in New York?

Why is the protagonist always welcomed with open arms? How about a movie where the protagonist goes through time and is completely hated by everyone?

Yeah, going to file this one in the 'don't give a fuck' section of my brain, along with Duke Nukem Forever and that chick that I wanted to bang in high school who's all pregnant and a FB whore now.

Oh man, Can't just somebody shut about everything that exists about them from the face of the earth!?
If Gargamel don't finally catch them, and feed 'em to his Cat, I won't see that movie.
I got the impression that the Film-Industrie tends to warm up the old Ideas of the last 3 century's,
like "Hurby-fully loaded", "Starsky & Hutch" or this stupid crappy Smurfs just to make the people nostalgic,
who used to watch that stuff. Where have all the good writers gone?

Can you name another international known cesspool of dicks and assholes with the one subversion that proves that not all people are bad?

Because that would require creative writing.

1. Hank Azaria looks pretty convincing
2. Did they serious mix with Smurfs theme with Tone Loc? WTF is that!?
3. Jonathan Winters is voicing Papa Smurf? Isn't he dead? Wasn't he like 80 when they made Morky and Mindy? You know, 28 years ago?

I thought Mork and Mindy was older than that.

The series ran from 1978-1982. Winters appeared in the last season, which ran 81-82.
