I dunno. It doesn't sound any less pretentious than XBox, which is totally X-TREME! And it's less bland than PlayStation.
I think it's about time to reboot the PlayStation franchise. Instead being of a direct sequel, the next PlayStation should completely reimagine the series. Maybe call it PlayStation: Rising Fury or something like that. |
Playstations will never stop being named Playstation.
At PS3, they are already too invested in numerically named iterations.

At a certain point, numbers become a hindrance rather than a help. Probably somewhere around 5 or 6.
I mean, imagine you're 17, you've had a job for about a year, and you're looking to buy your first video game console. Your choices are:
The Nintendo Seismic
The Microsoft Decapitator
The Sony PlayStation 6
Which are you least like to buy? The answer is the PlayStation 6. Why? Because it's the sixth iteration. You've already missed out on so much, why even bother trying to catch up? Seriously. It's a legitimate psychologic effect. Oddly enough though, putting LARGE numbers after console names actually entices prospective buyers. Hence the Atari 2600, the Tandy 2000, the SG-1000, the Arcadia 2001, and so forth.

I saw that Lucasarts has promised a lightsaber game for Kinect...
Whatever happened to the 1:1 lightsaber game we were supposed to get for the Wii? Fans demanding it for 5 years didn't give them the hint that they should try that? I know they made that one Clone Wars lightsaber game... but that game sucked so much ass, it may as well have not existed.
And really, who wants to swing a lightsaber around onscreen while holding nothing in their hand?

LucasArts is pissed at Nintendo, because Motion Plus (which would have allowed 1:1 lightsaber action) was in development before the Wii lightsaber game and Nintendo didn't think it was relevant to LucasArts' lightsaber-related plans and didn't mention it.

Kinda silly really, because the fist thing you do when you hold a Wiimote is to swing it around making lightsaber noises. I mean it should have been totally obvious! Hell, they could have gone the extra unnecessary but cool peripheral route and made a Wiimote that looked just like a lightsaber handle. Tell me you wouldn't buy that!

Anyone else watching the press conference?
Apparently Microsoft decided that wild flailing was the most important part of Wii gaming, so all Kinect games will use 200% more flailing. You will flail like never before! |
Ughhhh. It's no secret on these forums my absolute ire toward the broken Wii motion controls so I hate that the rest of the video game industry thinks that these gimmicks are the wave of the future. It's one thing when it was a novel concept 5 years ago, but I really don't think people will put up with arm flailing anymore and it'll be a huge mistake if Microsoft bases their next console around this technology.

But, its codename, ("Katana"), was even better.

There are lightsaber beams you can attach to the Wiimote. They came out either around the same time as the lightsaber game or with Force Unleashed.

Remember how when we were all little, they told us that brachiosaurus was the biggest dinosaur ever? Then we learned that our teachers used books from the early seventies, and that supersaurus was actually bigger. Except then they discovered two more, ultrasaurus and seismosaurus.
As a child, I was convinced that the successor to the super nintendo would be the the ultra nintendo, and the greatest console of all would be dubbed the seismo nintendo.

The N64's original name was the Nintendo Ultra 64, and many early promotion materials showed this name.
