The real reason is because oil is still cheaper than anything we have come up with. Until the demand exceeds with supply (which it hasn't) then we're going to continue to use it because it's cheaper than a lot of the alternatives. Do you really want to pay $6.00 a gallon for a substitute?

Sure. Depending on who you ask, the oil spill was caused by the money-hungry Majestic 12. Or Skull and Bones. Or the Vril society. Or corrupt bank owners (which is all of them). Or oil companies hating the planet. Or liberals. Or conservatives. Or gay people. Or the NRA.
