My girlfriend Just scored me a PS3..I need some game suggestions from people who obviously have somewhat similar gaming histories and tastes/ passion as I do..( We all congregate together here for a reason.)
I've got MGS4 and love it as well as The Force Unleashed...
I was hoping for suggestions in differnet genres as I enjoy them all even the occasional sports game. Don't worry about my taste and previous favorite games I'm really interested in the games you all are currently into and/or have been impressed with....A couple of suggestions in each genre would be appreciated!
1. RPG includin gJRPG's
2. Adventure 3. Fighting Game
4. RTS or just Strategy
5. FPS
6. Beat em' up/ Slash em Up's i.e. God of War /Ninja Gaiden type games
7. Good Side scroller remake of classic ( recently tried Bionic Commando remake..meh)
8. Platformer
9. Puzzle
10 . Sports (doesn't matter which one)
11. Best PSN downloadable (including throwbacks)
Thanks.

Demon Souls, it is an adventure type RPG and it is quite vast, difficult and engaging. It is also an exclusive.
You may enjoy FFXIII as well.
As far as fighting goes, MvC2 is a very cheap downloadable and fantastic or you can get SSFIV which is also a budgeted title.
Other great adventure games are Uncharted 2 and Just Cause 2, both of which I can highly recommend.

I second Just Cause 2, it's pretty awesome.
Dragon Age is a good RPG, and they've been adding a fair amount of DLC to it.
I haven't tried it yet, but Splinter Cell Conviction looks promising

Thanks!
Yeah,
Im a FF fanatic I've been putting of playing XIII until I play through a few other games first because I know how time consuming Final Fantasy games can be..kinda don't want to put all my eggs in one basket you know? Love The Marvel Vs. Capcom games I'll definitely check out the downloadable version. I've heard things about Dragon Age and Demon Souls one of those two might be my first PS3 Rpg...besides the downloaded FF7 that I'm currently playing

I am currently playing FF13 and it's fairly solid. I would also recommend from my library:
RPGS:
Eternal Sonata
3D Dot Game Heroes
Alpha Protocol
Resonance of Fate
Platformers:
Little Big Planet
Ratchet & Clank
Action:
Uncharted 1 + 2
Afrika (Not Quite Action but still a very interesting game)

SSFIV is dirt freaking cheap right now. Gamestop has it for 27.99 and Amazon has it for the same price AND you get a $10 gaming credit + free shipping on top of that. Unreal price for a fantastic game that's barely been out a month.
Demon's Souls was recently slashed down to 29.99 on Amazon as well.

It's a 360 exclusive and probably won't be ported.

Thanks...I've been a long SF fan and have been waiting to play SSF4 for a while at that price how can I refuse?..Hmmm...and Demon Souls is cheap too I think it might be next on my list.
Does anyone have any opinions of Final Fantasy XIII yet? I've read mixed reviews but it looks absolutely beautiful.

Borderlands and Fallout 3 are both good choices. I prefer Borderlands, as I find the game plays at a faster pace, I like the simple story, and the art design is amazing. However, you will get more game for your money with Fallout 3, especially that one with all the DLC already on it. It is fun, but it can take some time to get into. Also, it is filled with glitches and bugs, which can get annoying. I have only run into a few myself, but it is worth mentioning.

Metal Gear Solid 4
Heavy Rain
COD:MW2
That's all i would really suggest. In terms of DC:
Fat Princess
Crash Bandicoot 1/3 - if you haven't played them
I can't really suggest DC since i live in Europe and we are missing loads and by loads i mean in the US and Japan you have at least double the amount we have.

Heavenly Sword. What it lacks in gameplay, style, and length, it more than makes up for by having you throw hats at gongs.
I also hear Lair is awesome. Or that it was directly responsible for the death of Factor 5. One of the two.

Hehe.. I downloaded the demo and yes the gameplay is less than riveting but it does have a certain "charm' to it. The characters are fairly unique as well something that a lot of games lack these days.
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I think I have more than enough ideas for now...well at least as far as my wallet and my time permit.

tecmo bowl throwback. great game in general, but even greater if you were a fan of the original one on the SNES.
also, i second the Fat Princess recommendation.
and if you want any sports game, pick up FIFA or Pro Evolution Soccer. both great soccer games

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll definitely check out fat princess and Tecmo Bowl. I loved the original game but it was on the original NES first not the SNES.

I was thinking about downloading this, I tried the demo and thought it was pretty fun (being a fan of the original).
What I dug in particular is how you are to switch from the modern 3D renders and music to the original 2D sprites on the fly in real-time at any time.
You have it on PSN, username?

Ok, I'm in too late but still, two of the best games I've played in recent memory, each in its own genre:
Demon's Souls and Red Dead Redemption.

It's too late now because you haven't been PAYING ATTENTION.
