diet is probably what caused it

lack of vitamin B12, iron, and folic acid or too many citric acid based foods

Nice load of wiki. But I already found a homemade cure: apply a teabag to the sore. It makes the pain go away...

Some years ago I had some inside my cheeks. It was really annoying to eat anything, especially when I had one in both cheeks. I think they were caused by my toothbrush.

I can't imagine how painful it would be on the tongue though. Are you able to avoid having your food touch it when you eat?

I had one that lasted 3 weeks before. Shit sucks, man. Accidentally stabbed it with a fork. Like, literally stabbed it. One of the prongs broke through it and went inside my tongue. had to get stitches to fix it. Shit sucks even worse, man.

Well, it's summer. I've been drinking a fuck ton of soda, that's probably what did it. Also. Stabbed it with a fork? Shit. Closest I've done is scrape it with really well done toast... still hurts like shit. And no, I can't avoid it. It's on the very end on the bottom side. My teeth make it HURT.

I have... SOMETHING on the tip of my tongue. It's all swollen and it hurts when I speak or eat.

But when dealing with canker sores, I once had one waaay back in my mouth, near the throat. I went to a doctor who treated it by BURNING THE LIVING FUCK OUT OF IT.

Seriously, there are cauterizing chemicals for dealing with canker sores. No more of that salt or gentian violet bullshit.

The wife gets them, but I've been mercifully free of them for my whole life. As a trade off, though, I have thin little ribbon cuts on the inside of my mouth from where my dentures press too hard when I chew on something tough. Not sure I'm the winner in this one.

I get them pretty frequently, and they last about a week. Usually I deal with it, I find hydrogen peroxide can help make them go away faster (don't swallow it).

I also am prone to biting the inside of my cheek. That effing sucks.

I used to get them on my left cheek often, I don't know if maybe I got into a better diet or I grew out of it. They felt uncomfortable and like I was getting an alien growth.

Any time I used to get a cut in my mouth I got bad ones.

When I got my wisdom teeth out, it actually allowed my teeth to settle in a little better angle and I bit my cheeks less often.

Still, I found that I had the soars more than I should.

Over the last 6 months I have not had a single soar even with cuts in my mouth. It just so happens that I have changed two major things over that time. 1) I am eating the P90X diet. 2) I use Plax before I brush and Listerine after.
