Not to mention totally an American citizen. That's an important thing to remember too. Honestly, I'm not sure why celebrities think that they have any right to be some kind of arbiters of political intent or judges of politico character. If anything, one would think that being super wealthy would divorce them from understanding the problems facing the rapidly shrinking middle class. I know if I had enough money that I could buy a different car every day from now until the end of my natural lifespan, I wouldn't be too worried about a tax bump.

McCartney represents a landmark sociological experiment. He's shown us that it takes about 35 years to go from the pinnacle of awesome to the pinnacle of lame.

It's because people listen to them. Kind of like when George Carlin said "I've got just as much authority as the Pope.....I just don't have as many people who believe it."

The Beatles is my favorite band, but you have to understand...Paul and Ringo are about 70 years old now. They're old and tired crimudgeons. Can you imagine the hubris you'd have at 70 years old if you were told how wonderful you were all the time, and the impact you've had on society? At least he's not saying Hitler is cool. They're old. Let it be.

basically, this.

there are too many sheep out there that dont know how to make their own decisions, so they listen to the people on the box. the box being tv or music or movies or magazines.

and i hate using the term sheep, but its the easiest way to explain it

I'm just want to make it clear that I'm not saying Paul's assessment of Obama is necessarily wrong, just that Paul has no qualifications to make such an assessment.

But yeah, he's old. I'm not particularly a fan of most of his solo stuff, but he seems like a genuinely nice guy, if not a little naive.

Well yeah but it's the same when any celebrity says something about politicians.

I thought Ringo was the naive one.

Y'know, like in the cartoon.

Username, the new term is sheeple. They're still sheep, but they're also people.

Additionally, you don't want to wear anything made from them, unless you're Jane Gumb.

The really funny thing is that if you read the story, Paul McCartney is about to be honored with the Gershwin Award, making him the third person ever to receive it and the first non-American. That should be the story. But since Obama's going to be at the awards ceremony, someone inevitably asked Paul: "Oh my god! How dreamy is President Obama?"

He answered, and his answer became the story. Fucking ridiculous.

I heard on the radio that Obama called Gary Coleman one of the best entertainers of our generation, and perhaps all generations, due to his impact on our culture. Let's chisel whatchoo you talkin bout Willis in to the Washington Monument! Rolling Eyes

I bet Emmanuel Lewis is super pissed about that little comment. That said, it's not like you can ever really say American presidents are known for exquisite tastes, at least not after Jack Kennedy. I mean, look at Clinton. He'd slam anything that looked almost decent enough to work at Fuddruckers.
