I have a PSP-3000 slim that my girlfriend gave me but it has a black screen when I turn it on, I am able to see some lines at the top for a minute then it turns on then it goes all black yet I still hear navigate menu sounds.

If the screen is indeed dead, can I use a psp component cable and just play it through a TV?

Screen replacements are cheap, but I don't know much about PSP.

u should be able to play it on your TV, but as others have said, just get it replaced instead. and if you have warranty on it, im sure SONY can do it for free.

There is a decent how-to video on YouTube. I guess it depends how comfortable you are taking apart electronics.
