Seriously, WTF. I've been playing C&C Since the first one with Westwood Studios. I saw C&C 4. Saw that they even had the Orginal Bald guy Playing "Kane" but they've changed the whole game! You don't even build bases anymore!!! I HATE EA for buying up every fucking frachise and company, so they can build a shitty game under a name they can make money off of. Granted EA has owned the C&C title for a long time, but hell Red Alert 3 wasn't too shabby of a game. So what the hell happened?!?!

I dunno what happened, but after the total awesomeness that is Red Alert 2, it's gotta be hard to make a new game of the same quality in the same franchise.

Shattered Union was a pretty cool war strategy game. It was hex based and played almost exactly like a game of Battletech, except you know, no mechs.

c&c 4? the one w/the experience points or some bullshit like that?! yeah, my buddy hated this game. he was number 1 in the C&C:Generals ladder, and he alpha tested the last C&C prior to this one, and he was uber pissed about the direction this game took.

Saw the changes, I lost faith and assumed the series done afterwards.

And just what the hell is wrong with taking a franchise in a new direction?
I got into Command and Conquer because of how unique it is for a strategy game, and always looked forward to seeing what new things the developers would come up with. I see a LOT of promise with the fourth installment, and will not bash it just because it "strays from tradition". Once I get a fast enough computer, I am definitely going to buy it to experience the unique take on the series.

The reason that the vast majority of players loved C&C was for it's gameplay. It and its father, Dune 2, invented the entire RTS genre. We loved the system and how it worked. Now, EA decides after 9 games that use this system (C&C 1,2,3 / Red Alert 1,2,3 / C&C Generals/ Battle For Middle Earth 1,2) to completely change it?
Fine, but don't call it C&C.
Can you imagine if Blizzard did that the Starcraft 2? After 10 years of waiting they dump something like this on the world?
It was a stupid decision on EA's part. As soon as they anounced it, most of the community shit on it. EA didn't listen and pressed on. I hope this game bombs and badly. I hope the community let's EA know what they think about EA shitting on them and the game they loved.

You guys have Battletech to thank for Command & Conquer.

BattleTech: The Crescent Hawk's Revenge is a real-time strategy game based in the FASA BattleTech universe. Developed by Westwood Studios for Mediagenic, and produced by Scott Berfield, it is a major milestone in the gaming industry in that the game serves as the prototype for what would later become Dune 2, the first real-time strategy title on the PC.
Essentially, The Crescent Hawk's Revenge was the turning point in PC strategy gaming, where a genre formerly dominated by turn-based titles would begin a massive shift towards real-time. Later Westwood titles, Dune 2 and Command & Conquer, would expand this newly-established real-time strategy gameplay. |

I admit, it would be better as a spinoff instead of a main game in the storyline, but that doesn't mean you should marginalize the game entirely. Just tell them to push it aside and make it a spinoff, rather than bitch about it being a disgrace to the franchise.
