My username actually isn't original (duh). Before I knew Sydlexia existed, I belonged to Zelda Blog, which is now dead (Nayru rest its soul). But one of the weird features of the site was this thing called 'The Drew Linky Show', obviously meant to be a parody. After Zelda Blog died, I sort of adopted it, and now here I am.

How about you guys?

i thought long and hard about my name. it had to represent what i am, my background, my ancestors, and my ideologies. it also had to be strong and have presence. it would definitely have to be original and definitely be something close to what my friends call me. and lastly, it had to get girls pregnant as soon as they read my name.

thats how i arrived at it.

or, i was just lazy

A trivia question in IRC.

EDIT: Well, actually, I'll do all my names, because that's funner.

I don't remember where Boba came from, specifically. Boba Fett's cool, though.

Captain_Pollution came from a trivia question in IRC I thought was funny.

PepsiCola, Scotch_Whisky, FigNewton, and Lapin_Plein were all foods I happened to be eating at the time.

PepsiHiding we killed the bot one time, and then we all switched to other nicks (Ghandi was NotGhandi, I recall). I was using the name PepsiCola at the time, so I became PepsiHiding. Then a few months later I decided to start using it as an away nick, for whatever reason.

FigTheLamer we were raiding and someone called me a lamer. But then I dug it.

Skotch was satirical of dumb people.

Dude_Love: See Captain_Pollution

FigTheFop we were playing Boggle and someone used the word fop. lol

Boris_Pasternak: I was reading Dr. Zhivago at the time.

Rocket_Raccoon: I had just remembered how awesome I used to think Rocket was.

Tofurkey I got because I went to #Canada to check it out, and they were talking about tofurkey dinners.

Figofsydlexia I got because the word Lexia used to be banned from names in the IRC room, and since you can't use the name Hacker, Hacker used to use Hackerofsydlexia. But then he quit using that, and something happened so his exception to the ban went away. Then I said if Fern made Figofsydlexia an exception, I'd totally use it. Also, I quit using it once the ban went away.

FabriqueAuMexique I was playing with a binder, and it had a tag on it that said "MADE IN MEXICO | FABRIQUE AU MEXIQUE" and I enjoyed it, so yeah. Same with Lapin_Plein, except it was on an Easter rabbit. Yay for official bilingualism!

Pretzel I totally don't remember changing my name to, lol. I added the Dr one night when a couple of us became doctors, though, and then I liked it.

And then I was playing Scrabble with Klim a bit ago, and I made the word presorts so that the 3x word multiplier was right at the end. He commented that I killed it, and I said "Presortsy isn't a word?". Then shortly afterward I realised Presortsy sounded bitchin' (Preh-SORT-see) and changed my name to it.

<Drew_Linky> Well, I've eaten vegetables all of once in my life.

I was originally dummiesch2 because It was my alias online.
After I joined, I lurked for a while, then became Crazy_Bastard. I like it because it's unique, catchy, and it seems to suit me.

Mine's easy. I'm a soldier, and I've always felt a great kinship with hawks.

soldier + hawk = SoldierHawk

*shrug*

Mine came from an Engrish fortune cookie from about ten years ago. It told me to "Stop and drive sideways". Even though I knew it was nonsense, it still felt like it had some profound meaning behind it. After that I adopted it as my life mantra and dubbed myself the sidewaydriver.

...Given the fortune, shouldn't it be "sidewaysdriver?"

I dunno, I've used Atma for a while, for some reason I always thought Atma Weapon from VI was bad ass. 84 was my Football Number, so I've always attached it to my Username.

My best friend dubbed me Blackout Boy after I drank about six of these Image
and proceeded to try and punch him out for stealing and wearing my hat. It turns out he was wearing his own hat. I threw one punch and missed, following the punch all the way in to the ground. Embarrassed

We worked up a ridiculous super hero by the name of Blackout Boy who's drunken shenanigans often saved the day by complete accident, and planned on the character getting a sponsorship with Black Ice, the catchphrase was going to be Blackout with Camo Black Ice!

I had Syd change it to Blackout because I didn't want everyone thinking I was a kid.

I combined my first name and gender. Subsequentally, if this name is taken on forums or such (youtube) then I just add my birth year to the end of it.

I am all man baby, Blackout, you can be my sidekick!

I was a huge Lovecraft nerd when I was younger, still am, and for some reason, the word aeon has always been one that I really, really liked. I've had the same Yahoo email for over a decade now (which is weird in and of itself) and so I just culled it down and added -ic at the end. Voila

Back in the days of the long ago, when my parents didn't want to commit to a PC (too small a screen) we got a WebTV (now known as MSNTV, if they're still around). After wandering into chatrooms hosted by Talk City, I discovered some role-playing gamer chatrooms and decided to create an account for just such things (you couldn't change your nick in chat with WebTV, I'm sure hacker would've given up in disgust). Since I was really into vampires back then thanks to reading Memnoch the Devil and watching Interview with the Vampire, I wanted to take a name that sounded noble and French. Thus, Lordsathien (full name for the character being Scray Leviticus Sathien) was born.

Sathien-dono is my back-up chat name since Lordsathien was frozen on IRC. Dono/tono is a Japanese honorific for "lord."

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas.
