I'm now right before Ultima Weapon, and as an attempt to generate some kind of interest I'll let you choose my party.
Pick 3 members (Shadow is mandatory) and I'll use those that come up the most often.

Note that I don't have Mog and that Celes and Terra may be a bit overpowered.

By my 'last name' I meant 'Linky', not the last name of the character. Confused

Like UsaSatsui did some time ago, I'll do a playthrough of a Final Fantasy game where you can choose who you want to be.

I decided to play Final Fantasy 66, a hack of VI. It makes some pretty big changes to the game, mostly to make it harder. Here are some of them :

- Different translation. The American version made some changes to the script. This one has the Japanese script translated accurately.
So if you wanted to know what the original looked like, that's quite nice. But the American script is better IMO.

- Non-magicians can't learn Magic anymore. So if you want Espers, you'll have to pick either Terra, Celes, Strago, Relm, Gogo or ... Gau?
The other characters gain other abilities (Locke has throw, Edgar can Jump, Shadow can Blitz, Cyan has Shock...).

- Characters get different stats. Sabin doesn't have a high Magic Stat anymore, Relm has no defense whatsoever, and Locke is really damn fast.

- NO FUCKING EVADE BUG

I actually really like this setup. I thought it was stupid that every character could learn magic which really defeated the purpose of having different characters with different abilities. I would actually go out of my way to not teach magic spells to magic users, and would only assign espers that had level boosting stats (ex, I'd give Sabin a STR +2).

The only thing I have concern with is Sabin's magic power being low, because doesn't that in effect make his Blitzes useless?

There are a lot of what if's in life Donny. What if I hit you really hard in the face, knocked yo shit to the back of yo skull? What if I....had you girl gargle my nuts? The fact remains, you are a fuckin mutant.

I don't think they're all using the Magic stat. But it's true I haven't used Blitzes much.
To give you an idea, when he attacks with his elemental weapons (like a Fire Knuckle), the attack itself will do about 8x more damage than the spell, if it's even unleashed.
As he can wield two weapons without any relic, I usually use equipment that raise strength but lower both evasion stats to 0 and go all-out offense with him.

I also found what they did to boost Relm :
- All spell costs are halved. As Life 1 usually costs 60 MP this is pretty nice.
- Using her in battle doubles Gil gain. But it was Setzer who was supposed to have this ability. I have yet to test if using both in battle will quadruple Gil gain.
