OK, let me start off with an example.

I'm playing Just Cause 2. I play with my custom soundtrack on in practically every 360 game I play, so I'm just there, causing chaos, when "Give Me A Sign" by Breaking Benjamin starts playing.

For some reason, I just zone out, my senses become as fine-tuned as I've ever known them. I'm listening to the song intently, and destroying every Panauan fuck that tries coming after me. Jeeps, boats, elites, copters, it doesn't matter. I'm dodging, grappling, hijacking, with a skill that has never been done by me before (or since). I'm surrounded by a hail of bullets, and I'm dodging everything, then coming out with a machine gun and taking everyone down with minimal damage to me. One soldier tried sneaking behind me, and I see him and give him a faceful of sawed-off.

Two copters come after me, and I slingshot to one of them, grapple/hijack it, and proceed to shoot down the second chopper in record time. Two more show up, bam bam bam, they're all sent down in flames. In between those, I'm killing boats, soldiers, and destroying the government structures.

When the song ended, I think I shot down 5 choppers, 6 boats, and blew away countless soldiers. Afterwards, I'm just thinking "Wow...what the hell happened?" This has happened before to me, but it seems totally random. I tried re-creating it, and it didn't work.

Tell me, has this ever happened to you guys?

I used to listen to GN'R Lies on loop when I played Mario 64. It helped me focus.

I listen to Dropkick Murphys when I play MLB games. I repeat 'Tessie' a half dozen times.

They're turning it around, slowly. Looks like Ortiz finally got back on the PEDs...just in time.

One time, me and a friend managed to sync up a Capcom vs SNK fight between Kyo and Iori to some song from Ramna 1/2. The Ramna vs Ryoga one. That was pretty awesome.

I played a bunch of old AFI songs while playing Modern Warfare 2 and got 100 kills with the M9 pistol in about 3 hours.

Haha, I always find myself blasting dub-step/any funky electronic music when me and my friends are playing MvC2. It compliments the gameplay perfectly.

Huh, I didn't think I had any moments like this, and then I remembered an instance as a kid that was very much like the one you described. I was playing Ninja Gaiden and listening to (don't make fun of me now; some of his stuff is seriously awesome. Really, I swear!) Yanni. Maybe it was just how mellow and yet kinetic his music is, but I found Ryu's movements syncing perfectly to the tape. Its was kind of hypnotic, and I think--although I can't swear to it--that that was the first time I ever beat the game. I should try that again sometime, just for fun.

One time years ago I started whooping ass at MVC2 after my friend let me mute the awful game soundtrack and put a technical death metal CD in, not sure if I got better because I liked the music more or he got distracted because he didn't like death metal. Confused

I had PERFECT sync between the Gundam theme song and my destroying the Soviets with a bunch of giant robots in Red Alert 3. Even the win screen synced up with the little pause and then jingle at the end of the theme, I couldn't have edited it together by hand to be more perfect.

When I had Fallout 3, Nine Inch Nails' Ghosts album helped enhance the experience.

Also, I always listen to music ripped on my Xbox when playing Oblivion. Always.

My parents are big '30s and early '60s folk music fans, so all of the music I took from them got me through Fallout 3 pretty well.

Operation Ivy's "Energy" album is basically tailor-made for skating, so it fit perfectly with Skate 1 for me.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

I remember combining Front Line Assembly with Secret of Mana.

I virtually always listen to music when I play video games. Most of the time I'd rather hear some artist I dig than the music that was made for the game *shrug*.

I play Dr. Mario online all the time, though, and find I usually play noticeably better when I have some nice classical, Chopin particularly, on.

I always used sit in my beanbag chair and play Madden 96 on Genesis with Slayer "Seasons in the Abyss" playing.

When I'm levelling or doing something else boring & repetitive, I'll put on some music. Other than that, I try to immerse into the game as much as possible. I'm the escapist-type of gamer.

I had this remix of the Mach Rider theme in my custom playlist on GTAIII. I used to wait for it to play to try the races, because it gave me superb skills. I don't like racing games, but that song helped me cope with them =)

I later reused it for Vice City with similar results.

I had never listened to Disturbed before. When I borrowed their first album "The Sickness" from my friend, I immediately put it in my stereo. I just so happened to be playing Doom 3 at the time. I always sucked at that game, but somehow, I kicked fucking ass. Seriously, listening to Down With the Sickness full blast while blasting away at demons and zombies is fucking awesome. I also have fond memories of listening to Evanescence and playing Duke Nukem 3D.

Jurassic Park IV is never going to get made. Face it.

I put on the Itunes when I play MW2 and I know it's not music, but I listen to sports radio when I play my sports games.

To hell with the Red Sox, go Tigers.

The time I beat Gungrave OD listening to the original Ridge Racer Soundtrack on repeat. I was untouchable the whole time when normally I tend to have at least a little difficulty even on Normal. Everything and everyone died flawlessly, the beat matching pefectly as missiles whizzed by and enemies fell by the hundreds. During the final cutscene the sound clips in one of the songs meshed perfectly.
