Amazon.com is offering a deal where if you preorder Mario Galaxy 2, you'll get a $20 promotional credit on your next video game purchase.
Seems good.

Well considering I haven't bought a new game since New Super Mario Bros. Wii, I don't know how soon I would use it.

Geeze, Syd, this was mentioned in another thread.
Mods, mods, can someone please lock this?!
But seriously, it's a great deal, Username turned me onto it a week or two ago, it is indeed an offer you cannot refuse.

Ironically enough, username, my SSF4 and MH3 credits were applied to this purchase. So I traded $20 credit for $20 credit.

You know, I'm looking forward to this game...but at the same time I'm not. Watching one of the videos made me realize I had to do the fucking ball rolling in this game again. I cannot stress how much I hated this in the first game...literally to where I almost turned it off, I died many many times.
This game also implements the whole "guide" shit that NSMBW did, where if you die too many times...the game "helps" you complete it, however you only get a Bronze Star instead of a Gold Star...fuck that noise.
One last thing, I think I found out another reason why I prefer Sunshine to Galaxy 1, because it doesn't implement too many levels based on pitfalls. I understand that pitfalls are a huge part of the Mario history, but dammit am I annoyed when I'm forced to constantly walk in a linear path or suffer a falling fate. And Sunshine had plenty of pitfalls, they just didn't base entire fucking levels around them like Galaxy did. I'm hoping there are more open worlds as well, that's another place that Galaxy 1 suffered.
I like that they're making it more difficult and all, but damn do I hate that guide shit...I wish you could just turn it off. I DON'T NEED HELP! ALL I FUCKING NEED IS 50 GODDAMN LIVES TO GET THROUGH THAT BALL ROLLING ORDEAL!

I'll be getting this Sunday, since I have a $50 Toys R Us giftcard, although I don't know if I'll get around to it, since I did a run in GTA San Andreas...got 100%, yet somehow triggered the Territories glitch causing the file to be corrupt, so once again...I started a new game.
I am just already dreading the ball rolling. Ugh.

Haha, just relax and take it slow. I never had too much trouble as the rolling part itself wasn't "broken" at all, just tricky. The wiimote is highly responsive.
Also, this game is huge. Apparently after collecting 120 stars with both brothers, there is still a ton to do.

That's encouraging that it got such high scores. I was really expected solid B reviews that said "good, but more of the same".

Here's another pair of reviews from sites I generally respect:
Giant Bomb gave it a 5/5 and Joystiq is dubbing it as "the best Mario game ever"
I guess I should probably get around to finishing up the first game so I can play this one...

Believe me, I take it slow...I just suck at it. Everyone I know doesn't find it tough, but it just pisses me off.
Also I know I've mentioned it in the past but, if Tatanga makes an appearance in this game, I'll automatically give it a 10 out of 10.

This looks like the best Mario game by far. I can't wait to find out what it has in store this time... And I'm dedicating myself to beating my speed record for 100% on the original on this game. BWAHAHAHA

What I do with the ball rolling is go as fast as possible. Makes some jumps easier, and I don't lose as much time with each restart.
Unless the floor is moving. It would be way too damn confusing.

I used to love playing those old wooden Labyrinth games, so honestly...I kinda like the ball rolling parts...at the very least I don't mind them much.

Bought it this afternoon, yet I haven't had a chance to play it. I am absolutely pissed beyond belief at the fucking case. They decided to go the route that XBox did with their cases and cut fucking holes in them. This is the kind of shit that makes me not want to buy games because it shows what little regard they have towards people who do buy them. Personally, I'm going to switch the cases out as soon as I get a chance...but still....Jesus Christ.

They cut holes in the case? What does that mean?

Are you talking about the holes cut out in the shape of a Recycling symbol?

I'm pretty sure he means the "vented" cuts into the plastic that are obscured on the outside by the paper cover inside the sleeve. They're doing it with movies as well so don't think it's just game companies doing this.
