FF is not "better" than Zelda, not on technological terms, not in any terms of the transience of these dumb asses. The difference is subjective fuck. I'd rather spoon straddle a car husk than bemoan a topic this moot. Anon has posted the ultimate dis of VS. Bite it and read, MF!

This is all a matter of opinion... No one game will ever be 'the best', it's all according to our preferences.

But in the matter. of opinion, look at my name and you have mine (it also helps that I've never played Final Fantasy... Except for seven, and I never got past the first level because I was borrowing it for a day).

Seems like I'll have to play some newer Zelda games, but avoid the newer Final Fantasys.

it's not a contest. every major zelda game is a pinnacle of gaming, design, and immersion. Final fantasy has had plenty of crappy stuff. And I also don't ever remember zelda doing a billion shitty spinoffs for some quick cash. Final fantasies best days are behind it. But with zelda they keep making things like wind waker and twilight princess, true classics in every sense. I'm surprised FF got that far. I think Metal gear should have been a top contender instead, even pokemon has remained more consistently fucking awesome that FF, I absolutely hate all FF after 6 exluding 7 and 12. They are just too recycled there are way too many games that can do RPG better! of course this is all wrong since N KICKS ALL THEIR ASSES!

There were no Final Fantasies after 6. After 6 they were Final Fantasy in name only. Although I must say I did enjoy the PS1 trilogy.

Well, Since someone else brought the thread back up...

Huge Fan of the FF Series, but totally agree that its been on a down hill slide with recent releases. The SNES/PS1 time-frame in my Opinion is when FF shined. I still pray for the day that they release an epic FF that one day many years from now we'll all still be bragging about getting to play it in its natural form. Not this FFXIII shit they just released.

Legend Of Zelda? I played the hell out of LttP and I actually enjoyed the Gameboy Link's Awakening. I followed Link's Journeys on the Game boys for many years but never played the N64's, GC's or Wii's. So I can't fully weigh in on it.

As someone mentioned before (sorry, really too lazy to scroll back up into the thread) Metal Gear Solid has been a kick ass series through and through. Probably in my eyes the most soild and consistant Series. (even the one with the Raiden)

I like Final Fantasy as much as the next guy, but this is just a no contest. I had more fun with Zelda, and it has a more consistent universe. That's it.

Since I've played nine Final Fantasy games and only three Zelda games, I don't think I can fairly offer my opinion. However I'm soon going to play Ocarina of Time for the first time since I think it would be the next one in the series for me. That's right, I've never even played it! I never owned an N64. Is that one available to play online or something relatively cheaply?

u can buy it on wii vc for however much n64 games cost.

honestly, its just LttP w/3d graphics. there are some changes to the story obviously, but you can see the similarities.

I liked Link's Awakening. In fact I'm kinda nostalgic for it.

I say Zelda wins because people are still interested in it, whereas people are also wishing Final Fantasy to go the fuck away.

I don't think I'm going to buy a Wii anytime soon. Too fuckin poor. I loved LttP though. I'd totally play it again with 3d graphics.

Tied with Mario, Zelda is my favorite game franchise. There have been good Final Fantasy games, but Zelda is just more fun and has just had more games worth playing.

I'm going with LOZ, since there seems to be more truly great games in the Zelda series than there is for Final Fantasy. That I have a huge Zelda collection for Dreamcast with the NES, SNES, and Gameboy Zeldas and some homemade versions (ROM hacks) is just a small influence of my opinion on this subject.
