I just thought I'd celebrate the day not only because the game's importance for all of us (Red all about it: http://sydlexia.com/pac-nihilism.htm), but because personally, PacMan was my portal into gaming. It was the first video game I ever played on an old Atari I found on my grandparent's house when I was about 5.
So here's my humble tribute to the game that started it all for me. WAKA-WAKA!

I just saw Google's logo for the day, commemorating PacMan. It's awesome! It's actually a playable version of PacMan with a "Google"-themed board. Click the "Insert Coin" button, or just wait for a minute, to start the game.

Haha, was about to post about that. I like their little version of Pacman alot actually.
I have always been a big fan of the original, but honestly I have always been more of a Ms. Pacman fan. Always felt like she played a little bit faster (although in retrospect the thought is rather negligible, as her performance could varied greatly between machines). Anyways, happy thirtieth birthday Pacman.

I'm hearing it on everything. I don't use Google's page and only by using Safe Mode can I avoid it.

Co-op is very interesting. Player two uses WASD, by the way.

I made it three boards playing both characters at once. How did that one guy do it in Ikaruga?

I think it is cool that they went so creative with this. The web should be more dynamic and thought provoking.

I wonder if they are like tracking scores in some database over the course of this whole day.
There has to be some dude just fucking killing it right now (in real time) on Google Pacman, going for some sort of record.

Happy Birthday to the character that gave me my favorite SydLexia article!
I always prefered Ms. PacMan for some reason.
I did the Google Pac Man co op by myself and beat it without even using Ms. PacMan or allowing her to die.

Can someone find the source link on that Pac-Man game? I want to save it to my hard drive. I assume it's an SWF....

The source code uses JavaScript and browser elements to make the game, not Flash. It runs on an iPad/iPhone browser.

I saved it as an mht file via IE8 and it saved everything except the sound. Is there a better option?

Syd, I think it will eventually go here:
http://www.google.com/logos/
I am just not sure if it will be playable forever.
I have heard that a group is trying to build this out as an app that can be downloaded, they are currently using this webpage, http://github.com/macek/google_pacman I have been unable to get to it due to traffic problems. I hope it isn't a spoof or scam page.

That was really neat, but did anyone else start experiencing slowdown and choppiness after a playing a few rounds?
The added Ms. Pac-Man was an awesome bonus, I'm all for 2-player co-op Pac-Man and this was a nice proof of concept. Hell, Namco needs to release an online Pac-Man VS on the current systems to really celebrate but I'd settle for another World game.
