So we're half way through the two year anniversary special, "Kickassia" and it is the stupidest thing I've ever seen.

It had it's SMALL moments, but I'll agree that it's pretty stupid. I did think the bit with the President of Molassia having a conversation with himself by routinely changing his outfit every time he changed characters was pretty genius.

What should have happened was a Screwattack brawl. Fucking everybody was thinking it. What with the drama between Scott and Craig and pretty much everybody from Blistering Thumbs being leftovers from Screwattack.

What made the first anniversary work was that it was one giant fan service. It was another battle between the nerd and the critic that ingeniously evolved into all the critics fighting all of the gamers. Everyone was thinking it but nobody did it.

NOBODY also wanted to see Doug Walker take over his own country. You guys are electronic media pundits, not politic pundits. That sort of thing would have been ingenious for the Daily Show, the Colbert Report, or even South Park. But the Nostalgia Critic? Please.

I have been enjoying Kickassia. Don't get me wrong, it isn't a huge masterpiece of film, but I think that is where the charm comes from. It is over the top, with conflicts in acting styles, poor special effects, and poor writing that I pray happens outside of continuity for everyone, because it really does weird character related things. Still, despite all that, it has been fun, impart because it is stupid. Will it go down as the best anniversary show ever? No, but I am getting laughs out of it.

The only thing I flat out hated was the Sarah Palin gimmick. I'm not a fan of her by any means, but it's been overdone, it's old and there's a ton of other people who've done it vastly better.

Characters? Laughing What fucking characters? 98% of the people on TGWTG are playing themselves. The only people that could be considered characters are The Bum, Ask That Guy and Dominick. I'm not counting Spoony's Dr. Insnano/Mr. Hyde angle that they're trying to work because it's unnecessary and dumb.

I also have to say this: when Doug was calling the people that ultimately couldn't show up and they got to Little Miss Gamer and she said she was trapped in a video game, I was like "Fuck Kickassia, show me that!"

Furthermore, I'm not expecting a masterpiece of a film, I'm expecting something that doesn't suck.

I can't explain why, but I actually liked Lindsay's take on Palin. It was one of the very few redeeming things so far in this bloated piece of crap. I completely agree that making fun of her is played out and anybody who does it anyway just because they're "thinking for themselves" should be shot in the head, but for some reason I found Lindsay's take refreshing.

Well it's just the framework for the anniversary and eventual team up videos. The fight video from last year was just ok aswell. And I like kickassia a bit more actually.

I like it well enough. It isn't amazingly funny but it's alright. It's nice to see the team interact with one another and the recent influx of videos from all of the various reviewers and critics is nice.

Episode 5 would have been the best one by far if it weren't for 50 minutes of Santa Christ lameness.

I was about to declare this thing dead in the water when an unexpected cameo kinda saved it.

I figured James would do a cameo.

The one person I cannot stand AT ALL is fucking Brain....goddamn does he suck. I'm no actor by any means, but Jesus Christ, you could give me a labotomy and I could still outperform his sorry carcass. I guess not every Brit can be Peter Sellers.

Just saw Part 6 and man did it feel rushed. Granted I enjoyed the whole thing for what it was but basically this could've been 5 parts.

You're goddamn right it felt rushed. The entire time NC was getting his ass kicked the first time I thought "press the detonator you dumb bastard!" Then Film Brain just "disconnects" them off screen? Eat my balls, assmunch.

Holy crap, what a bloated, pointless turd. I almost want TGWTG to come to a crashing halt because of that piece of shit.

Yeah, Part 6 felt more like a Cop out than anything else.

Pity; it started with a bang, but ended with a whimper.

I've seen worse acting. The ending was a bit abrupt but otherwise it kept me entertained. I really didn't laugh at any of it, but it was fun to watch in it's own right.

I thought Spoony's commentary on Kickassia was fairly enlightening. Makes me appreciate it a little more, though the ending still felt rushed.

Am I the only one who thought Kickassia was a lot of fun? I really, really enjoyed it. Everyone did a fantastic job. And I can't believe all the hate Film Brain is getting--his was one of the best characters in the whole thing! He's clearly supposed to be a little sycophant, which is why its such a big deal when he finally turns on Critic. Also, as a big Spoony fan, I LOVED the way they included Dr. Insano. Just perfect. Spoony's certainly not the best "actor" of the group, but he handled himself pretty well, and watching Insano is always fun.

I liked Spoony's commentary too. Always good to hear his take on things.

The bloopers are quite hilarious too.

Specially the ones with the window washer.

Don't get me started on how awful the Dr. Insano angle was. That had all this buildup just for him to get his ass kicked in a fight? Fuck that, I want some "This country deserves a better class of criminal, and I'm gonna give it to em" shit. That would have been the perfect way for them to flesh out that angle.

Insano didn't get his ass kicked! He lost yeah, but that's to be expected--a large, endearing part of the character is that he's so brilliant, and has all of these great ideas, yet always ultimately fails. He is a super villain, after all; that's what they DO.

Yes but the payoff of unleashing an inner villain should be that they lose control of him and now have to fight him. It would be a brilliant cautionary tale.

^ Didn't Spoony say that was the original concept, but it had to be cut out due to time constraints or something like that? I agree that that would be a fantastic twist, and I wish they had been able to use it. I still don't think the way it turned out was bad, though.

to be fair, it was clear Insano would lose from the start. It was a TGWTG production, not a Spoony production. And I was actually very happy with the Insao bit, none of the others got to start up to the Critic on an equal level, almost win, and only lose due to weird logic with lightning*.

Overall, Kickassia was fun, silly, and yes, stupid, which is part of what made it enjoyable.

*How does shooting lightning make you fall forwards anyways?
