I'm still deciding whether these are cute or plain creepy.

Aside from the orange-striped one looking constantly angry they seem rather harmless. Don't seem very Olympics-like but then again I never really paid much attention to mascots.

This is so fucking dumb...I hate these universally boring, non-offensive things they create in order to get people interested. Fuck this...

its even more retarded because the summer olympics automatically have a following. they are fun to watch and dont need these mascots. so its basically a waste of time imo

I hate them. I hate their stupid faces, I hate their perkiness, and I hate everything they stand for.

First the logo, now the mascots look very, VERY artificial, bland and unnapealing.
Is that what England stands for?

When I first saw those things, the first thing that lept to mind was "one-eyed willie".

Dunno why.

Well, according to Wikipedia, those mascots are drops of liquid steel from the steelworks of Bolton, so they're related to the English industry. I stand corrected.

Honestly, those mascots are creepy as fuck. Just imagine going down a dark alleyway in the rain and finding one crouched over a hobo it just rolled, it's singular eye bloodshot as it grasps at a boxcutter covered in hobo blood with it's weird tendril-thing.

Seriously, though, I'm way past giving two shits and a piss about the Olympics. Between the IOC's dickishness, the banality of the announcers for the network, the allegations of doping/performance enhancements and the general drama that the media tries to create with it on an otherwise slow news day, it just annoys me. I'm glad it's not something I have to deal with again for another two years.

Never have I wished a shoebox have actual shoes in them compared to these weird little things. Mini terminators or something, why is there even a need for this? Are there really that many stupid, lazy kids who cant get excited over the actual events, but need a toy tie in to have intrest?

I really don't think those ugly, misshapen pieces of garbage are meant to entice children into watching the Olympics. Frankly, were I a child, much like I was about twenty years ago, I'd be afraid that they were waiting in my closet and planning my imminent rape.

Not to mention the fact that I don't think children are very high up in the priorities list of the network's Olympic programming target demographic. Seriously, I'm pretty sure that I spent the 88 Olympics playing NES, the 92 Olympics playing SNES, the 96 olympics playing PS, the 2000 Olympics playing Dreamcast (pretty sure it was out then), the 2004 Olympics playing PS2 and the 2008 Olympics playing X-Box 360 (yes, my childhood ended at 26, so the fuck what). I mean, did anybody really plunk down and watch hours of the Olympics when they rolled around as kids?

They kind of reminded of an enemy you'd meet in a Zelda game. The week spot is obviously the eye. You probably have to shoot them there with an arrow and then slash away.

But they're made of steel... you'd probably have to shoot them with lasers and slash with a lightsaber.

They're not as bad as the race and gender neutral mascot (left) from Community.

I kinda have to agree with some sources that Cobi from Barcelona '92 was one of the better Olympics mascots: simple design, straight to the point, and perhaps the only mascot who had a successful cartoon series:

Though to be honest, it is now that I've seeing it once again, I have to admit the cartoon was a tad racist in occasions (it was done in Spain after all...).
