I always thought Q was Balrog after getting a brain transfer to a robot. He's not fooling me with those charge rush punches.

Yeah cause nobody else can manage the advanced tactic that is the run and punch save Balrog. Must be some kind of genius. Rolling Eyes

And yeah Syd, I know that, but I like to point out the man has transgender issues. For street fighter humor, its either this or another "Whats the deal with Guile's hair?!" joke and those were tired by Championship edition.

Mechanically, Q is a perfect match for the more focus attack hyper armor style of gameplay, moreso than IIIrd strike, where sluggish characters with single attacks were doomed to bottom tier by gameplay mechanic alone.

So, yeah, I sadly haven't played either Street Fighter IV, but a friend of mine has kept me somewhat updated on the games and has even shown me some live tournament feeds. So take what you will out of my honestly inexperienced opinion, but I'd have to agree. I love playing as Q in SFIII3S, but he's very situational with only a few big combos and limited options. Not that every fighter in every game needs to be ridonkulously good, but it looks like Q's at one of the bottom tiers in that game. It would be good to see him reappear in a future Street Fighter game, though it would have been interesting to see how Q fared with the focus attack gameplay as opposed to 3S's engine.

Which brings up a good question - Third Strike had the parry system (and a ton of moves that you can cancel Supers into, though I'm not sure if that was changed in IV) and IV has the focus attack system. I'm wondering if the unavoidable fifth game will include either of these.

I'm still having trouble with the focus attacks. I just don't see a whole lot of purpose in them. I can't seem to work them into my stratagy.

Shake it, Quake it, Space Kaboom.

Focus can be a good mix up to keep people on their toes. Try throwing it out when someone is attempting a jump in or is turtling within range. The average player usually doesn't anticipate it/know how to react to it and it nets you a free combo or ultra. You can play all sorts of mind games faking a focus, then dashing back out of it to get someone to try and attack and then punish them. Focus attack dash cancelling (FADC) is where it's at though. By using meter, you can throw out what would otherwise be unsafe moves and be completely safe. I main Guile, so I can throw out a flash kick + FADC on wake up if my opponent is being aggressive. If he's not blocking he eats a flash kick. If he blocks it, he can't punish me because I canceled the move. Many characters can use this as a setup into their ultra. Ryu's SRK -> FADC -> Ultra 1 being the most common one you see.
