It's actually quite similar to an Italian doria/French gratin. I think I just didn't spread the cheese out enough and took the picture too closely zoomed, but the taste was great.

It's all worth it to read your poetic description "extraterrestrial abortion" though!

Hmm... Since I no longer have the luxury of a Mexican Girlfriend that cooked awesome Mexican food, I usually just grill various meats and make sandwiches. However, I do make a killer potato salad and the ingredients are as follows.

4 Unpeeled potatoes diced and softened (cook for 10 minutes after boil)
4 boiled eggs (diced)
1 can of pamentos
1/2 a purple onion
2 diced dill pickles
add mustard and mayo as desired
salt and pepper
a small amount of red wine vinager
you can reduce the mustard and go heavy on mayo and use sweet pickles if you like, but that is disgusting, so I wouldn't recommend it.

That site has a lot of crazy and delicious-looking recipes... the problem is that most of them seem kinda complicated and beyond simple "bachelor cooking," I guess. I have tried a few of them though and they were so delicious. *.*

I guess I can donate a recipe as well? 8D

Shrimp Fried Rice

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon peanut oil (vegetable oil or whatever oil you have sitting around works fine too)
1/2 cup green onion, chopped finely
1 teaspoon chopped, dried onions (optional :/)
1 egg
2 cups cooked white rice
1/4 pound frozen shrimp (baby shrimp is best, already de-shelled and de-veined)
2~4 tablespoons soy sauce (depending on your tastes)

Directions:
1. Defrost the shrimp however you need to. Easiest way is to throw them in a strainer and run warm water over them until they're kinda soft.
1. Throw the oil in a large pan and, at medium heat, add the dried onions and the green onions (and whatever other vegetables you want to add to your rice 8D). Sautee them for like a minute.
2. Shove everything to one side of the pan and add the egg (after you scramble it a bit in a bowl). Scramble the egg and when it's mostly cooked, mix it in with the onions (and veggies).
3. Add your two cups rice and about 1 tablespoon of soy sauce. Mix everything up (make sure none of the rice is sticking in huge clumps 8D). I usually spend maybe... 5 minutes at this part?
4. Add the shrimp in, along with another tablespoon of soy sauce.
5. Keep cooking over medium heat, constantly stirring. Add more soy sauce if you want. Keep cooking until everything is mixed up and hot (and the shrimp is cooked). I'd say maybe another 5 minutes here, too.

I rambled a lot but this is actually a really easy recipe and I make it all the time. It's easy, doesn't take too long to make, and the leftovers reheat really well. Actually, the longest part of this for me is making the white rice ahead of time. 8D I'm a "purist" as my dad says, so I don't really add anything else (like veggies or whatever), but one time I did add a tiny bit of chopped carrots to the mix. Couldn't really taste them, but they added color I guess. Very Happy

I love to cook, here are 2 easy recipes to try

Stuffed Chicken Breast

4 (8 ounce) skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
1 (8 ounce) container Philadelphia-brand Garlic 'N Herb cream cheese spread
8 slices bacon

Pound the chicken until thin. Spread each chicken breast with cream cheese and roll up, jelly-roll style. Wrap 2 bacon slices around each roll and secure with toothpicks. In a grill pan or on a grill over medium heat, cook, turning occasionally, until done, about 25 minutes.

After the Game Stew

2 pounds deer meat cubed
1 large can of mushrooms
3/4-cup water
1/4-cup bourbon (Jim Beam works best for this recipe)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 envelope dry onion soup mix

Mix all ingredients in large oven safe casserole dish, cover and bake for 3 hours in a 325-degree oven. Serve with hot biscuits. Serves 6 - 8.

I always prepare my own food even though I don't know what I'm doing. I usually just randomly mix a bunch of shit together, like ramen and refried beans. Yesterday I concocted a particularly gross looking but surprisingly tasty something-or-other, pictured here for your drooling and/or flapping pleasure.

Image

The ingredients were:

ground chicken
onions
jalapeños

then flour, salt, pepper, milk, crushed red pepper from pizza hut and "death sauce" (look it up)

then white rice

topped with cheese and Tabasco

So ITT, those who fend for themselves, share your recipes/eating habits (noting that ramen and refried beans is already taken Smile )

That kind of meal may fill you up, but there are tons of meals that are better tasting and have less calories than that one does. The excessive amount of cheese turns it into the equivalent of a quad stack at burger king.

Kikkoman low-sodium Teriyaki sauce and McCormick Fajita Seasoning go really well together... I've done venison or chicken cut into strips fried in it with some onions, then add a little water to the pan after you remove the meat to make a bit of a sauce. Plate the meat with some corn and mashed potatoes and drizzle a bit of the sauce over the meat and potatoes.

Also, very simple chili recipe that people beg me to make all the time:

Put a pound of lean ground beef in a large pot, mash it up until its the consistency youd want for a loose meat sandwich (think sloppy joe). It's important the meat is a really fine consistency. Add a large can of peeled stewed tomatos, a red and green bell pepper large dice, a jalepeno pepper small dice, a tablespoon of cayenne pepper, black pepper/coarse kosher salt to taste, and a whole white onion large dice.

sometimes I add a can of organic kidney beans (get the organic ones, the "water" in them is usually a thick bean paste that when tossed in the pot with everything tastes really good and thickens nicely) but usually the people ive cooked for prefer the chili without

let the whole thing cook on about medium/medium-low for about 20-30 minutes, covered, stirring occasionally.

i usually serve it in a bowl over a scoop of rice if theres no beans in it, with a bit of shredded cheddar cheese over top of it. can be used as a decent dip that way for tortilla chips.

very simple recipe but would usually feed me and my roommate for a day or two.

Recently stumbled across this cleaning out the old hard drive and figured I'd bump and share it:

Junk Food Casserole
Ingredients (Light version ingredients]
* Olive oil (non-stick cooking spray)
* 1 medium onion, chopped
* 1 lb. ground beef (1 cup canned whole beans, such as pinto, kidney, or black, drained and rinsed)
* 1 package taco seasoning, or to taste (1 teapoon chili powder, or to taste)
* 1 bag Fritos, Cheetos, Doritos, or your favorite snack chip (1 bag plain or baked tortilla chips)
* 1 or 2 cans sliced black olives (optional)
* 1 jar spicy cheese dip (1 can low-fat/low-sodium spicy or plain cheese condensed soup)
* Milk, enough to thin the dip or soup
* 1/2 cup grated cheddar or Mexican-blend cheese (1/2 cup lowfat shredded cheese, or a soy cheese that tastes good and melts well)

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 2-quart casserole dish.
2. Using a small amount of your favorite cooking spray, saute the onions over medium heat until translucent. Mix in the ground beef and cook until no pink shows. During cooking, add in the taco seasoning, making sure you mix it in well with the beef and onions.
3. Cover the bottom of the greased casserole dish with the chips you have chosen, breaking them up if relatively large (such as Cheetohs or Doritos).
4. Add the ground beef and onion mixture, layering it on top of your chips. Top with half the onions, if using them.
5. Thin the cheese dip with milk enough to make it pourable, but still fairly thick. if using a water-based soup, omit the milk and used water instead. Pour this sauce over the meat and chips, making sure you get it all into the corners and cover as much surface as possible.
6. Lightly crush some of the chips and sprinkle them on the casserole to creat a crispy topping. Sprinkle some cheese over the crushed chips, then scatter the rest of the olives on top.
7. Cover your casserole with aluminum foil, making sure it doesn't actually touch the food. Seal the foil around the edges, then place the dish on the center rack of your oven. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the liquid is bubbling. Remove the foil and bake another 10 minutes, or until the cheese toasts up a bit.
8. Make peace with your higher power, serve and enjoy!

My Bachelor Chow consisted of:

2 Jar of cheese sauce
1 box, pasta
1/2 lb of bacon
broccolli

I could make a ton of this stuff and live on it for almost a month.

Here is an easy one for you guys.

Chop up a broccoli crown
Drain a can of tuna
Boil a pot of water
Cook Nature's Promise Mac & Cheese exactly how it says on the box, but when you put the pasta into the boiling water, add the broccoli too.
After the broccoli & pasta is cooked add the packet of cheese and the drained tuna.

Eat it.

About 10 minutes worth of cooking for a protein, dairy, vegetable, and carb.

Tomato alfredo (women I know love this, hint-hint). I have this memorized, so I pretty much eyeball everything

1/2 dozen cherry tomatoes
Rosemary
Thyme
Basil
1 pint Light Cream
Shredded Parmesan cheese (fresh or jarred, preferably fresh, add Romano if desired, but optional)

Take the cherry tomatoes, cut them in half at the stem. Create a small coat of olive oil in a frying pan over low heat, enough only that your tomatoes only just start to sizzle. Place tomatoes inside down. Sprinkle a pinch or two each of the Rosemary, Thyme, and Basil, with just a little bit of salt. Once the tomatoes are cooked and dried out, and there's a pool of tomato juice at the bottom of your pan, add all of your cream, and slowly add the cheese while stirring until you reach the desired thickness. Serve over egg fettucine.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

Just found this:

T-Virus (Resident Evil Shot)

3/4 shot Silver Rum
1/4 shot Everclear
1 Blue Twizzler

Directions: Wind a blue Twizzler around a tall double shot glass. It should stick to the sides of the glass. Pour in the silver rum and top with the Everclear. Drink, then eat the Twizzler for a sweet and tangy aftertaste. You will have to fish out the Twizzler with your finger after you drink, as it will still be stuck to the side of the shot glass.

Mashed Potato Pizza

4 slices of bacon
One 14 oz package of fresh or thawed frozen pizza dough
1 cup prepared mashed potatoes
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1/4 cup sour cream, for topping

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Cook bacon in a large deep skillet over medium heat until crisp. Drain, crumble and set aside.

Spread the dough out on a lightly greased baking sheet. Spread mashed potatoes over the dough, leaving a small crust around the outside if you want. Sprinkle the cheese and bacon evenly over the potatoes.

Bake the pizza in the preheated oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly (about 20 mins). Let cool for 2 minutes, then slice into wdges and top each with a small dollop of sour cream.
