Translated into English of course. Just played it for the first time the other day and it's awesome! I downloaded it on my computer and the sound isn't very good but it plays just fine. It's good to go through a new 8-bit adventure for the first time in 18 years. Maybe I sound like an old retrotard, but I'm glad my first experience with the game isn't the DS remake.

FF 3 is the shit, its one of the few 8-bit games that has replayability. I bow to its greatness.

I will have to look for this since I wasn't too fond of the DS remake, which was my first experience with the game. I only made it about halfway through before getting bored with the game, but I don't think any charm was added by giving the four heroes their own names and personalities, and the gameplay was just horribly slow.

I think the website I found it on was Zophars domain. I'm playing it with an emulator with virtuaNES. It took me a while to get it on my computer but if you have a computer that's reasonably fast it should play okay.
And to fortune smiles..... I'm talking about FFIII, NOT FFVI re-released as III.

I'm starting to see why the job system in FFV was so flawlessly done. They pretty much worked all the kinks out in III.There were a few flaws but I still think III is the best of the 8-bit FFs.

I don't know how much got lost/mutilated in the translation, but I hated III. Very boring to play and I found myself using the Black Belt and Thief through the entire game and was still doing max damage per hit.

If you found the DS remake to be horribly slow, the original 8-bit version will be worse in that regard.

It's pretty good but can't touch the quality of the next three chapters in the series (16-bit generation). FFV was the first in the series to do the job system flawlessly. FFIV was the first game to do the ATB (active time battle) system. So if III were too slow that should fix the problem. But once again V was the first game to also do the ATB system flawlessly.

I don't get why so many people hate V. It's the only one I actually finished.

I don't hate it either Excel it's just people hold every Final Fantasy game to the impossibly high standards of FFIV, FFVI, and in the case of some misguided individuals FFVII. That being said, I did enjoy maxing out every job in FFV Advance, Necro-Red-Summon-Mimes are fun to play with...

Really, who hates V? V is probably my personal favorite. VI may be an overall better game in some ways, but V is still better than IV hands down. And IV was pretty damn good.

Having loved the original 8-bit FFIII, I had mixed feelings about picking up the DS remake. It turned out to be alright, though I'm yet to complete it and I'd sooner play the original any day. So, anyone remember the dungeon with the monsters that would split up into more copies of themselves? I think it was where you had to go and get the super shiny airship toward the end. Fun times.
IV is actually my favorite of the SNES era titles. But meh, I love them all.
