And the winner of the 2010 SNES Championship is... LiteYear! Valdronius takes second place, only trailing by a single point, and Ghandi comes in a respectable third. Congratulations to all the competitors, I hope you had fun.
Champ: LiteYear - 91 Points
Runner up: Valdronius - 90 Points
Third: Ghandi - 76 points
All scores
I'd like to thank Syd and Douche for allowing Fernin and myself to run things, and also coming up with some of the challenge ideas. I'd also like to thank Valdronius for merging and stickying most of the threads. Naturally, I'd like to thank Fernin for all the work he's done with helping judge videos, posting the winners on Youtube, and coming up with challenges as well. Lastly, thanks to everyone who participated in the competition, even though a number of you dropped out along the way. Hopefully, the next contest will maintain interest and participation longer.
And to all of you who signed up without participating in a single round... thanks for nothing. Why'd you sign up in the first place? I said not to unless you were sure you'd compete. And it's not like it was a couple of people, either. Over half the people who signed up didn't have a single submission. Was it too hard? Did you forget? Were you busy? Lazy? I wag my finger of shame at all of you.
But let's not end this thing on that note. Overall I think it went well. Could it have been better? Possibly. Could it have been worse? Easily. Every game this time around was in Syd's top 100 list, so at least there weren't any stinkers like Castle of Dragon or Bart vs. the Space Mutants. I really enjoyed doing this, and I hope I'll be involved with the next NES challenge in the future.
Feel free to post your thoughts, praise, criticisms, etc.

If one thing was shown to me during the course of the challenge, it's that I'm really, really bad as SNES.
It also showed me i need more SNES games to download.

Congrats to LiteYear, you earned it man. It was a close race.
Thanks for setting this up NS, Fernin, Douche, and Syd. Even though I could swear you guys hated us with some of these challenges, they were all a blast and I'd definitely compete again. If only Sega emulators had a good movie recording feature, that way we wouldn't have to wait so long for the next championship.
Sucks that a lot of people didn't participate, but I guess it's to be expected.

For these things I prefer to practice at least 20 hours or not do anything. At the end, I didn't have the time for that, and didn't really want to anyway.
The competition part threw me off a bit too. I don't really know how it could work otherwise, though... I'll think about it.

Thanks to Not Sure and Fernin for all of their hard work and dedication.
That aside, I have always wanted a Genesis challenge.

Gah, bad luck Vald. I'd have liked to see you take this one, but numbers don't lie--congrats to LiteYear! Well done!
Big props to NS and Fern and all others who made this possible. It was a lot of fun to watch as a spectator, and I looked forward to those videos going up on YouTube every week. Another great competition guys!

Very nice job running it. Thanks for the hard work NS, Fern, and everyone else involved. I enjoyed watching the winning the videos each week.
Congrats to LiteYear, Vald and Ghandi for taking the top 3. So, um....does this mean LiteYear is going to start posting?

Alright! I'm very happy to have won. I'm also relieved that I was able to hold on, especially since Valdronius just dominated those final two challenges, definitely going beyond what I thought was possible in just one week of work. And, I would like to add more thanks to Not Sure and Fernin for organizing and hosting this event. It was very enjoyable set of challenges and games chosen, and I loved the nostalgic value of working on games that I first played so many years ago (Pilotwings and Spiderman were the only two games I had not played in at least some capacity).

Well, I've always been a lurker, and I generally don't post much unless I believe I can add something to the topic. But, I guess I can try, and I believe I will stay here for a while.

Good job man! Your grammar appears pretty decent, so in my book you are more than qualified to post more.

This year's challenge was pretty fun. Too bad I waited until the 2nd half to really turn it on. But a Top 10 finish is pretty good.

^ Indeed it is. I usually don't participate both because of time issues and because I pretty much flat-out suck at these games compared to a lot of people. But you know what? These are so much fun I might just participate in the next one. It really is a good time.

I'm in the same boat. I'm definitely not as good as most of these guys. However, I think I can at least beat Lem so I'll be in the next one.

These look like a lot of fun, but I'm not a fan of the emulator used. Maybe I'll try to compete next time.

Unfortunately I decided against signing up for the challenge around late February since school was picking up, and I figured the event would go all the way until finals week. And here I am studying for finals as I type this, so it sucks that I didn't have any chance to play, but on a positive note I didn't get the finger of shame wagged at me.
I did get a few chances to lurk around the threads and see some of the challenges, and I'd like to congratulate everyone who participated. I thought the challenge itself was really interesting, although I really have no constructive comments on it since I didn't compete. I hope I can try out next year, although sadly something tells me I'll be in the same boat...

I've done every one of these so I don't really have any feedback they don't already know Sometimes they could be started earlier since I've moved many times during the 10 week Challenge. Often it can't be helped, but sometimes one or 2 weeks earlier makes a huge difference.
