It's good to hear there is some good news in my neck of the woods, but this is just awful. Having to spend 29 years in jail to finally be set free because forensics took this long to find the evidence.

In this case the victim was very young, and I'm not familiar with the case, so I won't pass judgement there.
But women who falsely accuse men of rape need to be put on death row. There is no lower form of life. It's especially sickening when it's a case like this, where the guy is exonerated years later by irrefutable evidence.

What really sucks is that it's 30 years down the drain. According to the Straight Dope, lawsuits against this sort of thing hardly ever get won.

The story says that someone else who was also falsely convicted for seven years got more than $1000000 in compensation. I don't think that would be enough to make up for seven years of lost family moments, human developments, once-in-a-lifetime events, etc. I wonder how much this guy could have gotten for more than four times that length of time. My deepest sympathies go out to both of them, because I imagine that being in jail for more than a few years and suddenly seeing what the world is like outside after so long is akin to entering an alien planet.

A new rape would be a new crime. Double jeopardy only keeps him from being tried for the original crime.

people let there emotions get the better of them and they need someone to blame, also prosecution lawyers are dicks, If you've ever played phoenix wright you know what I'm saying. They really do want to just get a guilty verdict so they can say they've won they're case. My cousin is a prosecution attorney and he told me how it's a really cynical field and people he thought were innocent but got convicted because it's his job.

I mean no insult to true rape victims, and hope guilty rapists get what they deserve. But it sickens me when a women will just finger a guy in a lineup as her rapist when she's not sure......or worse yet, she's got some other agenda and wants/needs someone to be punished.
