I still play Brawl just not as much. I liked the fact that it had wifi and it had a story mode. But what I didn't like about it was that they brought some stuff back from Melee just none of the stuff I like. I really wanted Fourside in the game which never happened sadly and my main from Melee never came back which was Pichu. I also miss Roy and Mewtwo as well. I play Brawl now mainly when a good hack for it comes out when I have friends over or when I have nothing better to do other than play on wifi. But I play Melee more than Brawl when I have friends over.

Here are two:
Plants vs. Zombies
Torchlight |
i agree w/GP.
PvZ is awesome. and torchlight is a great game as well. and most XBLA are also available on Steam (Braid, PB winterbottom, etc etc)

Pichu sucked, you took damage if you used Thunder. What the fuck is that? Also, I agree that Roy kicked all sorts of ass, Ike was a terrible replacement.

Plants vs. Zombies is on XBLA.
Torchlight is a generic dungeon crawler. I wasn't interested in Elder Scrolls or Dragon Age, not interested in this either.
Try again.

Sure he took damage everytime he used thunder but his speed made up for that. Besides it was only like 4 damage each time.

Speed is good, but Pikachu was almost on par with him as far as speed, so it didn't matter that much anyways. He was mush easier to KO as well.
Wasn't "Day of the Tentacle" only released on PC? I know it's a 15 year game, but I think it counts.

pichu was too easy to KO. i agree on that end, but he didnt suck. you could still use his down+B move and move out of the way to avoid getting damage. he was actually pretty good.

Yeah he guess didn't flat out suck, but I can see why they got rid of him. Essentially, every character in Melee was good if you spent time with them. I just think that out of all the characters they got rid of in Brawl, he was the most deserving of the cut.

Yeah it was. And that was awesome. I don't think I've cared much about PC games since the Diablo 2 era. I loved the shit out of Diablo 2, but that was more or less the end of non-emulation PC gaming for me. After Diablo 2, I played maybe 10-12 commercial PC games and they were all incarnations of Deus Ex, Thief, Half Life, and Serious Sam.

Pichu did suck actually, he's bottom-tier at the moment(Last I checked). I don't believe he has any advantages, even against Mewtwo who's above him.

I miss all my DOS games...while I did have a SNES during the mid-90's, I think I did spend more time playing DOS over anything else. The "Trail" games, Battle Beasts, Civilization, SimCity, Monty Python's Complete Waste of Time, Indiana Jones' Graphic Adventure, Theme Park, Privateer, Magic Carpet...the list goes on and on.

I always wanted Complete Waste of Time. I heard it was fairly difficult.

I don't recall if I ever even got past the first screen to be honest, this little bird thing would fly out of this dude's nose and you had to shoot it. If you didn't shoot it enough times, a clown would show up and laugh at you. Then a phonograph would play sad music. It was fun though.

iirc his forward smash & up smash were pretty strong, especially if you timed them well.

Wasn't he also the lightest character in the game, to the point where he could be easily KO'd at like 80%? Kinda makes that 4% damage from Thunder a lot worse.

yeah. thats true. but i hardly ever use the B button special moves. i normally used smash moves and just regular hits.
and i think jigglysnatch was lighter

well ahndicapping yourself doesn't exactly mean the character is better, it just means you can't use most of your arsenal.
and ike is a lot better than roy. roy was just marth with all of the required technique removed from his gameplay.

Fuck Ike...Roy was our boy.
I remember fucking up with Ike once where I threw my sword up in the air and came down with it. Sure it's a powerful move, but you have absolutely no control with it. I go back to the idea that he might've served more purpose as a locked character, because once you unlock him, you might have a better chance of sitting down with him rather than testing out all the new people when you first get the game.
Also the little things he says when he wins a battle...yeah fuck Ike.

Ah, I still play the hell out of Brawl with my friends, have organized some tiny local tournaments and such. I think the game's really good, but overall I'd stay with Melee. Random Tripping? WHO THE FUCK could come up with such a stupid idea?!
Anyways, I still play a lot. I had been waiting for Zero Suit Samus since Melee, and now that I main her, I find that extremely pleasurable. I had to switch out Sheik tho (He's been nerfed as hell) but also added Olimar... there's not a single person who's not offended by him. Olimar's the new Jigglypuff, or the new Pichu.
I also harbor the same complaints that most of you do: too many clones, the final smash gets old, etc. I was hoping for Midna as a playable character, but o well. Now I'm waiting for Mega Man for Super Smash Bros FISTICUFF or whatever its name will be.

the idea of ike is that he's powerful, but you can't just go around tossing random moves. you need to keep the opponent at mid range and plan your pokes and strikes. he loses a bit of his charm in one on one matches, but try him out in a team brawl. The fact that a lot of his moves hit around him as well as in front of him, and that he gains super armor while doing most of them definitely helps to make him awesome at crowd control. use his counter a bit too.
roy was literally marth with higher damage output and that whole thing about doing more damage when hitting with the tip of the blade removed, making him all about jumping into people's faces and randomly attacking.

Gaming in general feels tired. I play mostly 1 on 1 fighting games and DS games these days. I want something I can just plug in and play.
As for Brawl, how do you play, Meatloaf? You're not one of those Smashtards who shuts off all items and plays Final Destination every time, are you? |
I agree with Syd, I play my DSi XL (to brag) more than anything. Personally, I like to pick random character when I'm versing my friend in local so they can feel like they have a chance. I also use random stage. But keep in mind I use Brawl+ hack so I have every stage from every game, every character from every game, and customizable character costumes, so I probably have a lot more fun with brawl than you guys with the stock games. My favorite level is probably the Hyrule Castle level from the original and my favorite character is melee link. And N fucking rules, but you guys already know that.

Doesn't Smash Plus fuck with some of the stages? Doesn't it replace New Pork City with Waiting Room and do lame things like make it so Luigi's Mansion never spawns?

yes, and that takes a ton of the fun out of the game as far as I'm concerned.

I play once in a blue moon nowadays, but when we first got this game, my brothers and I played the crap out of it. We went through the trouble to get every character in a week (yes, even wolf). All I can say about it now is that it is fun when my friends come over every once and awhile so i can smack them around, as they all suck, even my friends who think they are uber playing as zelda (range spam) or fox (ultimate Jigglybuff glitch FTW).
Any fav characters are Lucas (somehow better than Ness), diddy kong (piss off value), and Luigi (my main). The ony characters I can't stand are King DeDeDe (three words: Big Gay Dance!) amd toon link. Perhaps it's just me and My friends, but the little bastard seems to do more damage per hit than link and seems to hit faster. Confirm or deny?
