| It must be different everywhere because I don't remember Tiger, Bobcat, Wolf, Bear ranks and as far as I understood it, in my den to get past Webelos you had to place 1st in the pinewood derby. And I was led to believe that if you didn't get past Webelos, you couldn't become a boy scout, which is why I quit. I guess I was just very misinformed by the adults. |
If this were the case there'd only be a few boy scouts in any city at any one one time.

Well out of our den of 11...only 3 made it to Boy Scouts. Then again, our den mother was a complete bitch.

That'll do it to you... I think our Troop would only get about 4 new scouts every year when I was in it. Now numbers have died down. maybe two at most every other year.

I will say, I miss the hell out of those "Boy's Life" magazines, those always had interesting things to do in there.

I did Cub Scouts because it was fun. I continued onto Webelos even when they made us do more athletic shit. I quit the second day of Boy Scouts because it was fucking retarded.

As long as they remember to don't do what Donny Don't does I don't care what types of badges they get.

I remember when I was in Boy Scouts. We went camping, did volunteer work, and gathered food and gifts for the needy on holidays to give to seniors and the needy. I remember spending a few weekends planting tulips in church's garden just to get a badge.
Now they have stuff for playing games? Shit. Kid's these days lack discipline and the people who think it's good to go easy on them are out of their mind. It's one thing to be reasonable, it's another thing entirely to reward kids for taking the easy way out.
Eh, I could rant about that stuff for hours. I hope they realize how stupid a badge like that sounds.

That's what our troop tried to promote, a lot of camping and we used to collect food for the local church every christmas until Wal-Mart shut the store down. We even have a rule: No DS or PSP on the camp outs. We see one it's taken away.
Eagle scout right here btw.

Never made it to Eagle. I went through Weblos and about a year of actually being a Boy Scout. The prices for trips became too expensive and we had to quit. I still had good times though. Our troop leader was a really great guy and even invited me to hang out with his son when they went camping.
