Trading in a lot of my original Xbox games in order to afford a 360, especially now that retail stores don't sell original Xbox games any more (at least around here), and I'm too poor to even rebuy and ship cheap games. Syberia 2 and Brothers in Arms:Earned in Blood are both sorely missed.

I didn't wait for Shadow the first time I played Final Fantasy VI. I've gone through the game plenty of times since then, but I'll always remember.

Okay okay, I guess I take a lot of shit for this. I probably didn't like Dragon Warrior because it wasn't my first RPG. My first was Final Fantasy. Then I'd played Ultima: Avatar, Ultima: Exodus (which I didn't care for much) and Destiny of an Emperor. Then after all those I played Dragon Warrior which was really lame in comparison. I think at the time I felt that a game with just one party member playing in RPG fashion was redundant. I think it would have been better if it had played more Zelda-like. Also the dialogue was laughable. 'Thou art dead'. That's pretty bad. |
Thou art a scoundrel for finding this game... unsatisfactory.
Dragon Warrior predates Final Fantasy, and Ultima is just... meh. I gave up on Avatar when all my party members left me for having no virtue.
And Exodus isn't even half the game Dragon Warrior is.
I regret slamming my fist into my NES when I was learning how horrible Pro Wrestling was. Why I did this instead of just turning off the game is beyond me. Poor decision making imo. It still works fine though... just has a big crack in it.

Play the real versions (Read Computer) and you'll change your mind. The NES version were horribly chopped down, and dumbed down ports.

I'm aware that Dragon Warrior pre-dated Final Fantasy(only in the U.S. though) however it was still lame. I used to like Ultima:Avatar a lot more, however I just simply don't have the time to play it anymore. The game is just way too slow moving. The amount of time you have to put in to save money and build your virtue is just insane. You could play the game for 5 solid hours and still get nowhere. I never owned Exodus because frankly I just didn't like it that much.

Playing both of the Terrible Qix variants known as Miss World Nude and Miss Mister World Nude... and on top of that playing Sexy Ponchinko Reaction 1 and 2... I think I had an aneurism

Psh, Exodus and Quest of the Avatar were quite literally some of my first exposures to RPGs (the first being Pokemon Yellow), and I still play them to this day. Warriors of Destiny is the real travesty.

I didn't either, I was 7 and didn't know how to save him, something my dad and sister still won't let me live down... despite the fact that dad let Mog fall for a fuckin' hairpin.

I never actually played Warriors of Destiny. I always wanted to though. If it was that terrible, maybe I won't even bother.

I would say my main one was giving my NES to my cousin. This was like in 1998 when the N64 was out and he was 7 years old so it probably looked like the 2600 to him, hence he didn't take care of it and his mom eventually threw it out.
I never said anything about it, yet I still would love to have the system and my original games.

The graphics are pixelated to the point of being almost visually incoherent, and the game is just flat-out slooooooow. I didn't have the patience for it. I'd download a rom of it to satisfy your curiosity, but it really is quite bad.

My biggest regret is all the games I've started, got roughly 3/4th through, then went "Oh Shit! New Game!" never playing them again, then selling them off. I feel I did them wrong. Oh, and my ORIGINAL FFVII in the wrap being crushed by the movers when going to my new apartment. Yeah, I got re-embursed the collectors price. But I wish I had FFVII instead....

Five and a half years ago I was at a mall around Christmas time and this guy was demoing a game system from a kiosk. It was a fake NES with a shitload of games preloaded on it. It had a light gun and everything. He wanted $60 for it. I was kinda interested, but then I realized that I could play illegal ROMs for free on my computer instead of handing my money to some shady guy who barely spoke English. Besides, half the games were mistitled in the menu screen and there were some obvious duplicates. So I didn't buy it.
The system in question was the Power Player Super Joy III.
Shortly after the kiosks started popping up, Nintendo found out about them and got the FBI to arrest the people involved and seize their inventory. The system is now a collector's item and I don't think you can even list it on eBay.

I've got one... the ones you played as a demo was the only ones they could get to work. The first one I had, involved Contra where Bill was all glitched to hell, like the NES cart wasn't in right. Also, with contra you could CHOOSE ANY LEVEL TO START ON... no lie I would be able to start at the final level. Lunar Pool was all fucked up and controllers didn't work right half the time, the Battery pack supposedly would cause the game system to overheat and short out so the AC plug was necessary... BUT THE PLUG WOULD BREAK SO EASILY. the gun was more sporadic then the light gun on a newer TV...
The kid running the store was like a college student and did give me a refund and got another one that did work. (one of the demos)
As for the games, there are only like 30 games, so you are right, the rest are just duplicates or slightly altered hack. I was suckered into the concept of 76000 NES games which I should have known was fake. Plus.... the only games that were decent were Contra (sometimes) Twinbee and the Humming Bird Simulator.

I remember playing one of those at a boardwalk in New Jersey several years ago, and yup I played Contra and SMB. I knew it was fishy though since there were duplicate games and many games I didn't recognize. I just left it at that and used my money at the arcade.

I saw a shop in Wildwood, NJ that had the consoles that looked like an X-Box but was playing NES games, also they had the Pokemon Hacks one with a Giant Pikachu system. It really wasn't worth it, but I am curious about syd's claim of them being collectable items. That being the case I'll have to pull it out of my closet and see if it still works
