If seven Mega Man series weren't enough, another might be on its way. Joystiq noticed a new trademark filed by Capcom on April 21. It goes by "Mega Man Universe," and the description covers all bases, calling it a computer game, video game, downloadable game, screensaver, and more. It even mentions cell phones and ring tones, but chances are most of these descriptors are just covering every eventuality.
Now speculation is running rampant about what it may be. A compilation is possible, but Capcom has already published three of them for the various series. It's worth noting that Capcom has launched two new Mega Man spin-off series each time Nintendo has released a new handheld. The Gameboy Advance got Mega Man Zero and Battle Network, while the DS had Star Force and Mega Man ZX. If we had to wager a guess, we'd say this trademark is whatever new reboot the company has planned for the 3DS. |

so, new series for the 3DS? or MMO? or cartoon? any speculation? or does anyone care at this point?

It may be a continuation of the Internet timeline of the series, which I'd be excited for if they really changed up the battle system. I love the Battle Network series battle system, but the Star Force one just wasn't right, it was pretty much Battle Network but without as much mobility.

It could be simply a description of the entire setting of all the Mega Man games.

No! The setting should be called the Megaverse!

I think it's going to be more like the Sims. All of the Robot Masters live in the same house and have hot tub parties. And because of his f'd-up arms, someone always has to help Crash Man wipe after he uses the toilet.

I'm gonna guess it's a crossover game, but with my luck it'll be another dumb Star Force game.

At the very least, Wind Man farts a lot. But, you're telling me these robots don't poop:
Burst Man and Guts Man? And wasn't there an O-Ring Man?
Also, Splash Woman poops...she just doesn't want you to know it.

Robots do not poop. Because they don't eat. And I know what your going to say and forget it, removing a used cell is nothing like pooping. If you step on a dead battery you don't spend like five minutes trying to get it off, and it won't give you a disease if you don't wash your hands afterwords.
