Well, there have been a record number of thread-locks over the last day or two, and unfortunately, Jeebus gets blamed for all of them.
I would like to state for the record, that that's not the case.
I guess I can see both sides of the argument. I can understand that some people don't like "stupid" threads cluttering up General. I can also understand that not every thread has to be super serious. I certainly don't want to be serious all the time. And you know what happens when we have serious discussions? It turns into blah blah, I don't like Obama, blah blah Bush was worse, blah blah you're an idiot, blah blah blah. Then someone says they like cookies and someone else tells them to stay on topic. So then the person who liked cookies starts a thread about cookies and then Hacker bring ups the food forum and the thread gets locked because half the mods get really mad whenever someone brings up the food forum.
The bottom line is that everyone needs to relax. People shouldn't be calling each other out. Locking shouldn't be some knee-jerk reaction to so-called "dumb" threads that don't actually break any rules. I certainly don't operate that way. Hell, if it were up to me, everyone on this forum besides me would be a girl, only I'd be able to start threads, every reply would have to list at least five reasons why I'm awesome, and bitches would banned if they spoke out of turn. But instead this an open community where *most* people are welcome. There are people I don't like. There are threads I don't like. And you know what? I ignore them. How hard is that? You don't like someone? Ignore them. This goes for everyone. No more calling people out. No more locking threads that are not in immediate and unequivocal need of locking. Everyone, please, relax.
Find a shared hobby to rediscover what you enjoyed about each other in the first place!!!
