100% Agreed, and that's all I'll say about this movie. Way too epic for any sane mind to comprehend.

Awesome movie (though I haven't read the books I knew enough to say "bullshit" about Kick-Ass visiting the girl at night and her being fine with him lying). My first thought with the bazooka being fired was "does it even have a missile inside?"

I thought Kick-Ass the comic book was pretty alright, but loved the movie. though, kick-ass seemed like he was more heroic in the comic book.

thumbs up from me.
i heeded jeebus' warning and that made the movie more enjoyable for me.
although the changes did bother me a bit, i can understand why they implemented them, since most of the movie crowd hasnt read the comic book and probably wouldnt appreciate the back stories or reasons of some of these characters.
and why are there parents taking kids to these movies? i saw several moms leaving the theater w/their kids in the middle of the movie. obviously they didnt research the movie or realize that rated R is there for a reason.

This is why you go through the aisles before the trailers start and shout down at any parent who couldn't afford to miss the movie even if they couldn't find a sitter.

i think it was mostly parents who didnt know about the movie but were convinced by the kids to go watch it. the kids probably thought it was going to be like sky high, but obviously it wasnt

just saw this movie. I enjoyed it quite a bit. You guys can diss on nicolas cage all you want, but it takes real talent to PRETEND THAT YOU ARE ON FIRE.
I am going to go read the comics now.

Yikes, huge fan of all the books, but based on Jeebus' review, I will probably just wait for the blu-ray release.

Saw this today. I can't say I enjoyed it too much, but there were some fucking awesome "bullet time" sequences. It seemed to me any time the purple-haired girl wasn't onscreen was a waste of film.
Addendum: "Bad Reputation" is an awesome song to kill too. So is the Banana Splits theme.

Why? It was still a tremendous fun movie to watch, don't let the fact that you have also read it ruin it for you. Take it for what it is, a silly comic book movie, and you'll have a fucking blast. This isn't one of those times when people can be like "Ohhhh, they got the wrist part to Iron Man's costume wrong, the movie sucks!" It's just a different situation.

How about watching 'Watchmen' with a 10 year old girl sitting right next to me...and that softcore porn scene pops up on the screen. A little uncomfortable.
More recently, I was watching 'Book of Eli' right next to a mother and her two boys, each of which couldn't have been older than 10, and in the middle of if she says out loud: "I didn't know this was so graphic."...yet she stays! Read the MPAA warmings, moron. They spell out every questionable thing you're going to see in the movie.
As for 'Kick-Ass', I went to go see it over the weekend but when I saw the line waiting for it to open it had at least 12-15 kids in it. Granted, I went during the day but I didn't expect so many clueless parents. I didn't want to deal with it, so I'm waiting to go some time this week at night.
I haven't read the books, so there's nothing to ruin for me. I'll read them after seeing it.

My complaints weren't about "ooh, they got his costume wrong!", they're MAJOR FUCKING PLOT POINTS. The best 2 scenes of the entire book aren't in the movie because they changed the plot. If they got NOTHING else right in this movie, I wanted to see the end of issue 7 done well, because it's, by FAR, the best part of this story. And it wasn't even there. Not saying it's a bad movie, but if you were hoping to see the awesomeness of the comic on the screen, you might be disappointed so it's best to view it as a separate entity entirely.

I was annoyed at what they left out and bothered by a few things they changed, but that didn't stop it from being the most fun I have had at the movies in years.

i agree w/both bob ross and crazy dr guy.
i dont think the changes in the movie are that huge that they detract from the story. its still kick ass enough for me, but the changes are annoying if anything.
i think the movie was fun, and the changes in the movie, as i mentioned, are necessary for the average movie going person. simply because a simpler story is expected, so a cop in the movie makes more sense than a nerd.

~~~~~~~~_-_-_-_-_-OMEGA SPOILERZ AHEAD-_-_-_-_-_-_~~~~~~~~~
The end of book 7 was just Hit Girl and Kick Ass going to kill the mob boss guy. That seemed like it was in the movie to me.
Personally, and I know I'm going to get a lot of shit for it, I liked the movie better. Especially the way that they changed Big Daddy's back story. I understand that the comic was trying to send a message about normal, every day people doing the superhero thing, and it made sense to have Big Daddy just be a nerdy accountant that sells his comic collection online to afford the lifestyle, but for storytelling purposes I felt his new back story with being a psychotic ex cop hell bent on revenge was more interesting.
I do, however, feel that they fucked up Red Mist. McLovin was a terrible choice, and just turned him into a joke character. I also don't really like any of the redesigned costumes. Hit Girl's in particular. The skirt and purple hair were just too much. I'm not sure why they thought Big Daddy would look good as a Batman cosplayer either. Maybe there's some sort of tribute or something that I'm unaware of, but even having him talk like Adam West was a bit much.
His character in the movie is basically McLovin with a cool car.
I would have liked him to spout the "I've even masturbated to the thought of killing you. is that weird?" line from the comic. It would be so weird coming out of his mouth.
Finally saw this tonight, and I had a good time. I never read the comics (I will now), but McLovin' still seemed like a miscast. Overall a solid, funny, violent movie. Probably the best movie with Nic Cage in it since....uh....
Bringing out the Dead?
Matchstick Men?
8mm?
FACE OFF?!?!?!?
My friend actually hated Nic Cage before seeing this movie. Right after he shot his daughter my friend made a mental note to see more of his films.
