Has anybody else watched this movie? My mother told me she saw it in theaters and she really liked it and before I knew it the movie was on DVD. It was on DVD maybe the Tuesday after the Academy Awards.
Out of all of Jason Reitman's films this is his best. I have not seen Juno, don't really want to. I like that both Thank You For Smoking and Up In The Air because they(I'm reading the book now) were based on novels/books and I love how Jason Reitman takes the book and really really makes it his own(he explains in the commentaries about this)
I really can't go into detail on why this movie is good without spoiling it. Rent it, watch it twice(once and then with commentary)

I do think it's worth seeing, but I liked Juno more. The two movies are very different, and Juno is much more entertaining to me.
I think Up in the Air is a little overhyped. I saw it in the theater after hearing that it was the 'Best Picture of the Year!' by some critic. I try not to read reviews on movies I know I'm going to see anyway, and this is why. Solid movie, and I understand why some people really enjoy it, but I doubt I'll watch it again.
Clooney is very good in it; to the point where you overlook how well his acting is. But much of the story is telegraphed well ahead of time. I also expected it to be funnier, but there are only a couple of laughs.

I agree it was quite overhyped. I mean, was it good? Yes. Would I recommended people see it? Probably. But was it worthy of an Oscar nomination? ...Personally I don't think so. Maybe there's just something about it that resonates with the older generation that we're missing. I dunno.

I saw it, and fell asleep. So I watched the rest of it the next morning and almost fell asleep in my Grape Nuts. It wasn't awful, but goddamn...I ain't putting myself through that again.

It was ok, kinda relatable but still just ok. Juno sucked big time though so it's definately a step up.

I kinda of liked Juno, it was somewhat funny, I enjoyed it anyway but wouldn't watch it again. Up In The Air looks and sounds kind of boring, I might be able to enjoy and appreciate it but I'm not sure, it just doesn't strike my interest right now.

I agree on Juno. It was fun to watch once (mostly because J.K. Simmons in anything = instant win), but I never need to see it again. Again, I think this is one of those movies that suffered from severe overhype. If it had just been left alone to become a quiet semi-teen classic, I think more people would have enjoyed it. Instead they got roped into thinking they were seeing a movie of the year, which it most decidedly wasn't.

Why do I still find myself watching this movie? I'm currently reading the book yet I still watch the movie again and again. The question being "What makes this film so re-watchable?
