I'm actually trying to beat Mega Man 3 using only the Mega Buster and Rush (on an emulator because I'm lazy).

How can you beat Shadow Man? Or, better question, is there a way to know if he'll slide or throw his blades?

I hate the way he jumps. He'll sometimes jump real low to trap you in the corner or to attack quicker.

So, any ideas?

You could always stock up on energy tanks. Enemies can drop them at random, so patience is a virtue.

I'd prefer not having to use E-tanks. I'll try beating him again, trying not to get stuck in corners.

Edit : Managed to beat him. Timed my slides under him to dodge his next attack easier.

Memorization and reflexes. Shadow man isn't that hard.

I don't think I've ever seen an enemy drop an E-tank in Megaman 3, or any other Megaman game.

Maybe so, I can't say with any certainty and I'm too lazy to test it. They definitely drop 1-UPs though. Even if enemies don't drop E-Tanks, they're still easy enough to accumulate. You retain your E-Tanks when you die and they come back when you're forced to continue, so you can die on purpose and keep getting one over and over again.

Hold right and B on Controller 2's outputs and the game will freeze but you can still shoot.

Well if you want to cheat, if you hold up (I think, maybe right or something, Syd knows I believe) on controller 2 then you can jump as high as you want like when you're underwater. At the part approaching shadow man when the parachute guys fall down at you if you let one hit you into a pit you won't die and can jump out and you'll be invincible for the rest of the level as long as you hold the button down. Or you can just practice cause he's really not too bad.

Nevermind Shadow Man. I'm now stuck with Quick Man. Any way to dodge his boomerangs often?

I'm trying to get hit and then shoot him a lot, but he jumps around so much I miss him half the time.

I don't want to cheat, use E-tanks or weaknesses. He's not too hard with search snakes.

Also, is there a way to get rid of that bug in the ladder at the beginning of Spark Man's dark stage with Mega Buster/Rush?

you don't have to let them hit you in. jsut jump in the pit and THEN hold the button right after your health disappears.

if yo upick up a healing item by accident, you have to do the trick again, I think.
