Okay, so thanks to Ghandi, I totally felt like playing Sega today. So I whipped out my Sega, complete with games, RF switch, and power adaptor, grabbed the little TV, and hooked it all up. All I got was static like when it's set to channel 4 and you're on channel 3, when I was on channel 3, but I checked and the system was set to channel 3 as well. If I went to channel 4, it just barely changed the static pattern from when the Sega was and wasn't on. I tried switching the Sega to channel 4, and it was the exact same, just reversed.

I tried unplugging everything and plugging it all back in; same thing. I stole the RF switch off my NES and plugged that in; same fucking thing. I unhooked everything and set it up on the big TV, exact same thing.

So... what do I do? The Sega's RF switch worked fine last time I used it, I know for a fact the Ninendo's RF switch works fine, it gets power fine, and the TV can definitely tell when it's turned on or off. The Genesis worked perfectly last time I used it, which was probably a few months ago, and it hasn't been knocked around or anything since then. I tried blowing in it and swapping in a bunch of games, none of that had any effect. When I'm on the proper channel and everything's set up right, the static looks exactly how I remember the static looking if it was set to channel x and you were on channel y, for whatever that's worth. I tried googling around and asking the IRC, no help there. What's up?

The tech support guy in me says to check the wires and make sure they're ALL in there securely and completely where they're supposed to be. My other suggestion is try Video channels if the TV has any. For the coaxial stuff I'd make completely sure those were tightly on and how they're supposed to be(the middle pin may be broken or bent).

As a final resort, replace some parts Smile

I checked up on IRC lag and since it's worked perfectly before and is lagging like hell now it should eventually clear up. I even downloaded mIRC to get a better idea of what was wrong. That's the abridged version Smile Hopefully we can Netplay again soon.

The little TV doesn't have video channels, and I'm absolutely not up to hooking it back up to the big one. I checked all the connections and double-checked them, with both RF switches, and no luck. The Sega's RF switch's pin thingy is fine, the Nintendo's is bent a little, but that one works great, I know. So... new Sega, then?
