Chris Hu, a member of fighting game forum Shoryuken.com, lost everything in fire in New York's Chinatown. Hu and his family are now homeless, and Shoryuken.com is doing what it can to help.
In an interview with ABC, Hu recounts how his family lost more than their home, but also their life savings. (According to the report, many immigrants simply do not use banks.)
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but it is believed to have started in a shop on the street level. The fire has left over 50 families displaced.
To help Shoryuken.com is banding together and running a collection through April 23 for Hu's family. The site has donated $1,000 to the fund. Joining the cause, MadCatz is donating the first Super Street Fighter IV fighting stick that comes off the production line for an auction to help Hu.

*Sigh* It is a common practice for many LEGAL immigrants to not use banks. It is also a common practice for many natural-born Americans to not use banks as well, particularly older Americans. Yes! Even those who were smart enough to be born within our borders! No really!
Also, many ILLEGAL immigrants do use banks. They get a fake SS numbers and IDs (even pay Social Security!) and are able to get an account. Of course, when they retire they won't get SS or Medicare benefits since they used a fake SS to work.
I think it would be better if we didn't turn this story into an opportunity to bash people who are 'not like us'.

wells fargo actually takes a mexican consulate and/or a mexican drivers license as acceptable forms of ID to open up a bank account.
