Okay, I'll concede. I played Zanac only after playing the fuck out of Tyrian on my PC, fifteen years ago. I found it good for being a NES Shmup, and also had this "Wow, it's like Tyrian, only with less colors..."
Tyrian is awesome, BTW.

My favorite NES shmup is 1943, which I completely forgot didn't make the list. That's bullshit. |
Yes, I believe you were going to talk about 1943 as an honorable mention. Or something. Maybe I'm crazy.

Yeah, it actually is pretty generic. I didn't think that was a bad thing necessarily because most games like that on the NES were pretty generic except for a few that really stood out.

I disagree, the game is unique in the way it challenges you, if you're kicking aris, then it will up the amount of enemies thrown at you. The graphics may not be mind blowing, but the sound and gameplay are very strong. It has a large amount of power-ups compared to other NES shooters and the way it throws 1ups at you gives it a great balance.

That's probably why. I got Zanac when I was 6 or 7 from my brother for Christmas. The only other Shoot'em ups that we (as far as I can recall) had were Starship:Hector and Stinger. And of the three only Stinger and Zanac that were playable and fun as hell. Zanac was great because of the way the game changed every time you played it, the only reliable factors were the bosses.

I don't know, Chrono Triggers 32 meg memory kept fucking up my NES.

Look, I'm sick of this, OK?! I'm talking about the outcome of the 95th poll I posted when I first joined here and you all know it! Chrono Trigger won with 9 votes to Bubble Bobble's 3, but even if TMNT3 was option 1 in that poll, I think it still would've lost!

You know what else is Asian? Nintendo. Aka Famicom. I guess most English speaking gamers aren't even aware of that.

Don't be silly, of course evert knows that. But all the characters in DoE have very Chinese names that may make the game inaccessible to Western audiences. Not to mention that game is based a manga that was based on a classic historical story, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, that most Westerners aren't familiar with.
Also the stark, black battle screens may have been offputting to some people.

Why do women have boobs?
So you have something to look at when you talk to them.

It is kinda unique in that if you feed them right you will move to your enemy just as your dragons kill them. The writing is amusing at best, but the core mechanic is really good. I recommend it.

Am I the only person to like Rainbow Islands? Probably not a top 100 game, but I'd probably have it in the top 120.

Dragon Warrior sucked. Destiny of an Emperor was a thousand times better than that game.

I don't know, I first played the game when I was 13 or 14 and once I got used to all the characters names (and the names of all the tactics), I found them all pretty fun to say. My friend and I spent countless hours making fun of all those Chinese names. Also An Sha was awesome. Success! Cao Zhangs head was taken by Zhu Ge Liang! Good memories.

Monsters in my pocket was one of my all time favorite NES games... It was a little tedious but the monster variety was top notch and two player was fucking awesome even though it was based off a toy line... also it had perhaps the best graphics on the NES. CAN ANYONE FIND ANY GOOD PICS OF IT?

OKAY I'm really getting pissed. Crono trigger was on the SUPER NES. If I am wrong about that because I'm in some alternate reality please tell me.

That's right, you're new here. When I first joined two years ago, I had something HUGE to get off my chest: A series of polls that compared the games on the NES and SNES lists according to position. Since there were 100 of them, it took months, so I got flamed for a good chunk of the project. The 95th poll, Which #6 is better?, pitted Bubble Bobble against Chrono Trigger with the latter winning. I'd have preferred that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project be #6 on the NES list and thus, option 1 in that poll, but I think Chrono Trigger would still have won. The others are just joking about it at my and, apparently, your expense.

Chrono Trigger on NES? Roller Games is distinctly missing from this list.

On a more serious note, I can't believe Chrono Trigger was ranked lower than Super Mario World on the Super NES. That's just plain fuckin wrong. I don't care if Super Mario World was a more popular game, Chrono Trigger was far superior.

^I'm extremely interested in your opinion about the SNES. When you get the chance let's see your list of your top 100 games ranked in order.
Good luck!
