It wasn't really the candy itself, but I remember there were these little plastic shoes that had candy in them from the early 90's. They were nothing more than a novelty, probably one of hundreds during the 90's, but for some reason these struck me as being pretty cool. The candy itself was probably a Smarties ripoff, but the shoes themselves were characters. There were 3 characters, the red shoe was the goofy one, who looked all beat up and had toes showing through a hole. The aqua green shoe was the cool guy and wore sunglasses. There was another one who was a girl shoe (she was either yellow or pink, I can't remember). I bought two of these things as a kid and I got them at a gas station. I lost one at camp and the other got chewed to pieces by my neighbor's dog. I have never found a single clue as to what these were, however it's always tormented me for some reason.
I figured it would be a longshot, but figured maybe one person could provide some small insight to what the hell these things were.

I've been reseaching it all morning because I vaguely remember too. I didn't find it but came across tons of other stuff I forgot about. When I came across these I nearly orgasmed, these were so delicious! As soon as I saw them I remembered exactly how they tasted.
This is what Syd should do for the next food article.

I can say with certainty that the pie crust was green, but if I recall correctly I believe the cream was just plain white. I have an empty wrapper here with some crust residue still inside of it.
@Dodds - I have a collectors book here on vintage candy containers somewhere. If I can find it I will look for that candy for you. I really can't say that I remember what you are talking about though. The only container that I have that comes close is a roller skate filled with candy from the 80s.

I would say these things were made between 1990-1994. I wish I had more information or possibly some sort of database to look on, but there's nothing.

The pies were made two ways. One green on the outside and vanilla on the inside, the other vise versa.

When they do away with stuff like this, is it because it was a failed product, or simply because it was never intended to be anything more than a "limited time only" product? I can understand the need to discontinue licensed products, but some things (Ecto Cooler) were good enough that they could be repackaged under a different name and re-released from time to time. Take Kool-Aid, for example. there are lots of good discontinued flavors (some that are still available in other parts of the world). Are we to believe that cherry, grape, orange, and tropical punch are the only things that will sell well over time? When I was growing up there were all sorts of crazy shit. Kids today are deprived and left with just the basics. Irate Gamer was right. Beverages (and most other great food products from our childhood) are ruined.

I don't get it either. Of course the liscensed property won't be for use forever but that's no reason to get rid of the product with the tie-in.

Well with some things, Kool-Aid for example, I think they over did it and flooded the market. But they could at least keep some of the more popular ones besides just the basics. Bubble gum was similar. You had tons of wild flavors all at once. Now, you just have the basics. Sure, every now and then you can find something out of the ordinary, but back then, you could always find something different.
When I was a kid, going to the store with my mom was fun. Now that I'm an adult, I don't have to worry about anyone telling me what I can't get. But all of those things are gone. For kids today, it has to be awful because they aren't left with much. Cereal doesn't even have toys in the box anymore. Its complete garbage.

Anyone else get slightly annoyed at all the fantastical far out flavors and variants of your favorite junk food / snack listed on Wikipedia as either discontinued or only in some random ass country you'll probably never go to? I was happier when I didn't know what I was missing.

You should see all the Kit-Kat and Pepsi flavors only in Japan. All kinds of crazy flavors that I want to try.

I've tried these flavors so far with Kit Kats.

Even some that sound nasty like cherry blossom, red bean, and soy sauce were decent.
As far as weird Japanese Pepsis go this one is my favorite:

Dodds, I just looked up the candy in the book I mentioned earlier and found it. They were called "Yo! Street Feet" and they were made by Topps in 1990. There were three different ones like you said; there was "Yo Landa", "Yo Slick", and "Yo Stupid". I will scan the pictures in a little bit.
Edit: Here they are:

Holy Crap! Those are it! I even remember the names! Thank you SO much dude. You've solved a problem I've been looking into for the last several years.
If you want to PM me your address, I'll send that Alfred E. Neuman figure to you ASAP.

SUPER Bump
Yes, dreams really do come true. Because yesterday, I received the last of the Street Feet figures I was looking for. It took over a goddamn year, but I sit here today, as a man. A man who conquered his past...by buying old candy containers off Ebay!
From left to right, Yo Slick, Yo Landa, and Yo Stupid. The first two were the two I originally found on Ebay a while back (actually Jackfrost helped me YET again, thanks dude!) and didn't contain the candy, UPC sticker or the toppers. I found multiple duplicates of Yo Slick with the candy shortly after, and eventually Yo Stupid. I bought 6 of these altogether, 4 with the candy and the original 2 I bought, without. I still don't have a complete Yo Landa.
I went ahead and cleaned all of them, removing the candy from the ones that had it and then putting it back once the shoes were cleaned and dried. Hey Syd, wanna eat 21 year old candy?
Yuck! On second thought, maybe you shouldn't! One of the containers was water damaged (I assume) and the exposed candy had rotted inside one of the containers, and despite being 21 years old, it still smelled like shit! With scalding hot water, I was able to remove the dried on pieces and threw out the rotten candy...what a gyp!
Anyways, I guess I can finally come to peace on my childhood of candy containers. Thanks Jackfrost, wherever you are!~

I used to eat those all the time when I was younger. They were the shit!
And for the record, those street feet candies look fucking terrible.

I wonder if the preservatives in the candy would balance out the water damage mold...
