Miyamoto hated it, he pretty much thought it was a game with good graphics where you collected bananas for no reason. So here's Miyamoto, a god amongst men, the man who rescued videogames from the atari crash, who defined what platformers are to this day, whose creation define videogames. And one of the characters you created is used in a game you hate, and they want you to do it to another one. No wonder he flipped out.

I didnt really like DCK, and I didnt play 2 or 3. Its not god-awful, but it never really grabbed me.

Okay, that was an exaggeration. Nintendo revitalized the american videogame market, Miyamoto did'nt ride in on a green dinosaur and pull videogames out of the lava. But still, he's shigeru fuckin miyamoto. He IS the duke of new york. He IS A number 1.
