This kid can't even pronounce "Mario" or operate a simple microphone correctly! Also, his gameplay arguments are lacking. You can't really compare an analog stick to a touch screen because they're different types of control. He could've compared the PSP's analog to the DS' digital, and I would've accepted that, though it's still not a very defining argument.

In his games argument, he only named a few games for the PSP (most of which were GTA) and he only mentioned the fact that Mario is on the DS (somewhere?). He didn't have any details about anything. Just "this game is "automatically awesome" and the handheld sucks, though apparently I've never played any games on it to tell.

I'm also sick of the "you can watch movies, listen to music, and access the internet on it" argument. Those features are neat, but I would think that the main reason people buy system handhelds is to play the games for that handheld. These extra features just jack up the price on them anyway. Besides, if you want to watch your favorites movies you have to buy them AGAIN if you already have them on DVD; I find that ridiculous.

Apparently, this kid doesn't see the extremely ridiculous loading times that can happen with the PSP due to its shoddy firmware and RAM setup. It varies between games, but I've heard a lot of complaints about 3-5 minute load times for things that shouldn't take as long.

I know I'm tearing down a kid here, but if he wants to step up with the big boys and get into console/handheld debates, you have to jump into the fire. This seems to boil down to a case where he's been influenced negatively about games (perhaps from a friend from school or an older brother) as graphics are superior to gameplay and he thinks that playing more graphical and more violent games makes you seem older. It's the new age version of playing dress up in your family attic. In either case, the main piece of knowledge you're missing is that it's not the clothes or the cool games that make you seem mature, but a collection of your experiences, thought processes, and how you view the world. He's just a 10-year old who hasn't developed yet, so hopefully he'll come around soon. Some people just don't though and it's unfortunate.
