I actually did a presentation about this and Takashi Murakami in my Survey of Contemporary Art class.
I got an A on it, saving my entire overall grade in that class.

My first reaction at just seeing the title of this thread, "Anime is proof that 2 nukes wasn't enough", was "You want anime to be weirder!?!"
I'm sure we caused some long term, evolutionary changes when we dropped Fat Man and Little Boy.
