I too liked the DC vs. Mortal Kombat game, I was disapointed they toned down Joker's fatality.

And how the fuck is SMB4 winning this? Are people really that shallow? How many sidescrolling platform Mario games have been made since SMB3? And they're almost all the same fucking story, hell the only difference is the later games don't have numbers...big fucking whoop.

I think the more important question is, why are we even voting on this?

That's what I'm saying. I had a feeling this would get locked because it was a pretty vague topic but it's generated some talk.

The problem is that MK is at its best in 3D, and SF is at its best in 2D. This pertains more to fields of movement than graphics.

Other than that, it could work. They're both about asshole combo tricks and projectile spamming.

SMB4 seems like it would have to be a direct followup to SMB3 and would have to be an 8-bit game. Even if they used every trick in the book, it wouldn't be able to compare to the expectations that SMB3 brings and it wouldn't be able to achieve the graphics that Super Mario World offered.

Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter... I am just personally not interested in fighting games, so I guess I wouldn't buy it.

Sonic the Hedghog was great. Sonic 2 was fantastic. After that, I haven't been able to enjoy the character. It became too corny for me.

I am not quite sure what Contra X would even be. Why X?

X = 5, duh

V 5 (five) (quinque)
X 10 (ten) (decem)
L 50 (fifty) (quinquaginta)
C 100 (one hundred) (centum)
D 500 (five hundred) (quingenti)
M 1000 (one thousand) (mille)

Either way, the series can't make up its mind about its naming convention.

Contra 1 was just Contra. After that, take your pick for which game is Contra 2. When they get around to Contra 3, they name it Contra III. But Contra 4 comes out several revisions later as Contra 4, not IV. Then we get Contra Rebirth. Contra confuses me.

Sonic 06 was Sonic Adventure 3, hate to break it to you. Hey, at least it wasn't a shameless pathetic attempt to make your series "hard and edgy" like Bomberman Act Zero.

actually sonic 06 was supposed to be a reboot of the entire franchise, and it kinda was supposed to be hard and edgy compared to older games.

He was probably thinking X = 5 because that's the case in Castlevania.

I'm not a bad enough dude, but I am an edgy little shit. I'll do what I can.

i havent voted for any of those games cause i dont want any of them to be made.

a decent sequel to Zombies Ate My Neighbors would be nice.

a sequel to General Chaos would be nice.

a return of the [word] Strike series would be nice.

any way you try it, it still sucks.

That's not really a good barometer of how well it would/could work. The people playing those characters were playing them really poorly, especially the MK characters.

it's not really a measure of gameplay, so much as showing how the characters have a rough time transitioning to the opposing style.

Well, the way to do it would be 3D models, 2D plane. Then the character styles wouldn't clash so much. And gameplay wise, it would be fine.

Sprites, as the videos show, simply do not work.

I was more emphasizing how the gameplay is the part that WOULDN'T work.

Now that is a good idea. This is a fantastic multi-player game and yet, I think there is still so much opportunity for improvement if they made a sequel....given it stays in 2-D.

Why? I have no real vested interest in either franchise, but if MK vs. DC can be decent...why wouldn't pitting characters from the two biggest fighting games of all time against each other be good?

The gameplay and the style would just clash badly I think.

i agree. the fighting styles are way different as are the game engines.
