So you're only going to read it whilst you're... uh... utilizing your home facilities?

As I have to read LOTR for a course this semester I have:
2 weeks to read Fellowship.
3 weeks to read Two Towers.
2 weeks to read Return of the King.
and for added fun
3 weeks to read Silmarillion.
Too fun

You deserve a pat on the back for just reading the Hobbit - it was too dry for me to get past the around page 50...

My first exposure to Tolkien was the cartoon movie of The Hobbit. The ugly cartooning made Bilbo look horrifying, leading to my great dislike of the movie. I steered clear of anything Tolkien until a year after the LotR movie came out because of that.

I read the Hobbit for 8th grade, at the urging of my father, who's a big fan of Tolkien (we had to pick a book to read and then do a write-up on it), and I enjoyed it immensely.
I never got around to reading LOTR though.

I'm still in Two Towers. Crazy narrative. Not unlike what Lost has become; I detect an influence the show might have used. I can't wait to read Tolkien's notes about writing this book. What was going on in this man's brain?

I did one of those in 7th grade, however I just took the back of the book and wrote what was on the back and read the end of it to get the ending. Most sasisfying A+ of my life.

Only on page 112. I don't spend any extra time reading, as soon as it's time for phase two of the dookie, the book goes back on top of the can.

I am doing the same thing with Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six novel. I only read it while on the "thinking throne" or soaking in the tub. The book is freaking huge, so it will probably be a month or two before I get through it.
