Released years ago that it is.

Weird stuff... and for SNES!

It's Doki Doki Panic all over again.

That looks like a bad pirate cribbed from some dumb "mascot plaoformer" of the 90s.

Allegedly it was another platformer some Speedy Gonzales game and they just changed the sprites but it was actually released as a cartridge for SNES - albeit an illegal cartridge.

Pic of the cartridge:

Info i found:

Quote:
This is a hack of Speedy Gonzales - Los Gatos Banditos from Sunsoft, with Sonic (and Mario!) sprites added in (you can see screenshot above). Now, let's look at the label... well, as pirate carts have taught us all, that pic of Sonic was probably ripped from somewhere else (note the disproportionate drawing of Sonic, though it may be a scanning artifact). Also note that the "Sonic The Hedgehog" logo, as well as the "Super Nintendo Entertainment System" one, are cheezily done, and, if you look carefully, are not the same as the authentic ones. Actually, the "Super Nintendo" logo looks kinda like the logo on an unlicensed convertor box, which is designed to make it look like a licensed accessory. Anyways, since this cart is labeled "Super Nintendo", and it has the shape and design it does, it was probably intended for the European/PAL market.

EDIT:

Apparently there was an NTSC cartridge as well:

There's box art and everything so it did have an unofficial release.

EDIT2:

I would have a look around that gamers graveyard site if you have a chance there is fascinating stuff on it. There was a Tekken 2 "port" for SNES which has 6 characters in it!

Oh Snap! Speedy Gonzales - Los Gatos Banditos! I still have that game! That castle stage was a real bastard. The part where he died, he was supposed to find a burrito or something that lets him breathe fire and light the cauldron and use the smoke/steam as a platform. I don't think I ever beat the game. I might just try it here in a bit.

I love how it still does the carhorn version of La Cucaracha when he gets a 1up.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

Did they change the burrito sprites to chili dogs?

Also the part where the points were being added up, nearly blew my speakers.

It is certainly worth $11.99. I got it when it was $39.99, I don't regret buying it at that price.
