I agree that IV had a better story, however to me story matters most the first time you go through a game. When it comes to replay value you need to have customization. Therefore the job system from V was perfect for that. In FFIV it was virtually the same experience every time I went through it.

9 is good, but better than 7 & 8? i don't think so. I thought 7 would get more love, but it turns out it's very fasionable to hate 7 as it's ''overrated'' apparently.

Why can't games just be good for their time? Final Fantasy 6 was the best of the SNES era. Final Fantasy was the pinnacle of RPG's for the Playstation Era. Being a Pop Culture website you gotta figure the older NES-SNES games are going to get a majority of the love.
Edit: And whoever voted for Final Fantasy II, that is a blatant lie. I never met anyone who thought it was good let alone their favorite.

I did figure 4 & 6 would get the most love. I was just surprized that 9 got alot more than 7,

The game is not as good as the pedestal people place it upon. Plain and simple. That's what overrated means, and if people use it wrong, that's on them.

It is still a very, very good game, but not even close to the best game of all time, and probably not even the best Final Fantasy game.

What i meant was with those people who hear it's overrated and immediately asume it's crap, it becomes underrated because it's certainly not. I don't think it's the best game ever made, but if people do then that's their opinion and i wont fucking whinge about it.

Well you are whinging about it. Clearly people like 9 more than 7 or the poll results wouldn't be what they are. You can't chalk up those votes that 9 got to bitter people being fashionable by intentionally slating 7. That's just dumb. We genuinely feel that 9 is the better game.

7 was a decent game, but is highly overrated. That doesn't mean it's crap and I don't think anyone equates "overrated" with "crap" as you say. Overrated simply means that it's nowhere near the best in the series as people claim. It's a snap decision based on nostalgia for the game when it was new. Looking at the game now, the story is convoluted and the graphics are extremely dated, even moreso than the SNES era games. 8 and 9 don't have that problem and to me, are stronger, more fun games.

Remember, this poll is about the best FF game of all time. Not the best when it was released, or the one you have fondest memories of.

You're very naieve if you think there's no-one that equates that word with crap. I know what overrated means, i also know people fucking cream over the word and can't use it enough. Saying people only rate it based on nostalgia is very presumptuous as everyone who has the ability to think for themselves has their own game and reason and nothing is set in stone.

I didn't say people were voting for 9 out of hatred for 7, just that i was surprized that it got more love.

I think most people are gonna vote for the game they have the fondest memories of.

It is here in England where PJX presumable lives. The English have such a fascinating relationship with their own language. It's like they got bored of most of the words and just started modifying them to make them more exciting.
