Did you notice, the laser comes out of his nose?
It might have been cooler if it was like the Metal Slug laser.

Not to mention that you can see his hand moving in the fireball throw motion underneath the "laser suit" sprite everytime he fires a laser.

It's funny, these days it's much easier to convincingly fake screenshots and videos of a game due to computer technology that is not just available, but READILY available to even the most computer illiterate of people, but it's much harder to propogate a blatantly false rumor due to the internet. Companies are able to release official statements denying rumors much more quickly and there is a bevy of well-established video game sites that shoot them down even more quickly.
Back in the day, before we had the internet, video game rumors were able to thrive. Back then, all it took was a convincing enough tone of voice to make a rumor real. There were nudalities in MK2!!! There was a super secret toadhouse that gave you Kuribo's Shoe!!!
And then there were the true trick that got written off as rumors. Like Minus World. Everyone had a friend that swore up and down that Minus World existed, but didn't remember how you got there.

It was probably edited with Lunar Magic. When you edit the text for boxes, there is a spacing option that does that. This is just saying that I find that spacing horrible.
Right from the beginning I knew it was fake, not just due to knowledge, but do to the fact that he hit that in one try right after coming in. It's possible, but not very probable. Plus, I've gone to the Top Secret Area billions of times and I ten to lean toward the "up" end of the controller when I jump and nothing of that sort ever happened. Damn them for trying to play off our want for something to be on that little island.

That and the fact that when he gets its, a fire flower appears in his inventory box.

I was about to mention that. Since they took the time to make a "running" sprite for the map screen with the suit on, wouldn't it make sense to have made a sprite for the actual powerup?

Also, if you notice, he had 5 lives when he entered "Top Secret Area", and then after jumping into the invisible pipe and hitting the finish, he collected no coins, nor got any time bonus, yet he somehow earned an extra life with no "1UP" or anything? His lives just go from 5 - 6 for no reason!?!

Whoever is playing that isn't very good. He jumps awkwardly and his sense of timing could use some quartz. He almost got hit my that koopa troopa that was all up in his grill. He doesn't even deserve a FAKE laser suit.
