It seems there's a lot of stupidity going lately, and this just adds to it. Now, I'm not saying the air traffic controller is stupid for bringing his kids to work and allowing them to give take off permission to a couple pilots, I'm saying it's stupid that this is even an issue.
I wish I could find the news piece Tom Costello did on it, but they compared to some Russian pilot who let his kids fly the plane and ended up crashing it and killing 75 people.
I hardly think bringing your kid to work, and letting him say five sentences for you is a big deal. No one else in the control tower minded, the pilots receiving the transmissions were amused by it, the only people upset are the people who have nothing better to do but listen to air traffic control radio online and complain.
Sometimes I hate people.

It's just more sensationalist journalism getting people riled up. I'm surprised they didn't work racism or gay marriage into the issue somehow.

It was a non-issue on a slow news day. It was probably a bad idea, but it was completely harmless. Now, if the guy wasn't standing right behind them...

What is this nation coming to? I was thinking a few nights about how some movies I saw in my childhood would be received now. I remember seeing a couple sets of breasts in the original Clash of Titans, it was still rated PG but these days parents would flip out over that. These days people flip out over the smallest of things like that and this air traffic story. I'm sure these kids were under strict supervision when they were telling the pilots they were clear for takeoff.

I think that in protest, all air traffic controllers should unionize and walk off the job tomorrow at noon.

Sometimes i hate people too.
This was my latest reason for "i hate humanity"
"Family see Jesus image in Marmite"
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/8071865.stm
Yeah okay so assuming Jesus did even look like that woopdedoo how is that fucking news worthy.
I don't know what's more annoying... the fact that it's news or the fact that there is this bullshit "oh i feel so comforted by the face on the lid of my marmite".
You really do see some total shit in the news, i would have expected better from the BBC.
Other great headlines:
"My son turned into a fish finger"
" Barnacles ate my manhood"

Yep. Details.
Short form: Federal employees aren't allowed to strike. They threatened a strike, and President Regan told them that if they did, they were fired. They did it anyways. Reagan shit-canned all 11,000+ of them who did.
