With the Tim Burton adaption of Alice in Wonderland out in the cinema i was thinking about Alice in Wonderland and remembered this video game.

I remember seeing it on the shelves in various gaming shops but i never bought it. It seems to be very similar to Burtons style of dark and twisted realities.

Has anyone played American McGee's Alice and what do you think about it? It looks good but i thought i would get a second opinion before i buy it.

Also if there are any fans of the game here they are making a sequel.

I've heard a lot of good things and a lot of bad things about this game... I personally would get it only because it was American McGee's Hallmark game, though I would pass up a couple of the other ones he made...

The graphics were pretty good for the period and the game is fun, but it gets repetitive as there aren't many different kinds of enemies and it's very linear.
The difficulty level is pretty low and the puzzles are simplistic, but it's still a pretty fun game. They really managed to get the weird psycho-fied Wonderland vibe, which is probably the game's strongest point.

The game's atmosphere was tripped out and even scary at times, but I got bored half way in and never finished it. Anyway, if you liked Alice, you'll probably be interested in this:

Same here. I liked the idea of the game, but it got so damn repetitive.

Yeah, if there were more than 4 kinds of enemies, it probably would have been more interesting.

I played some of it but also got bored. I really liked the dark atmosphere and the art style though.

Seriously buy it, it is well worth it over the years I have probably gone through it at least 6 times. Just checked ebay and man those prices were high.

Pretty much this. It's worth playing because it's a great looking game and a fun take on Alice. But it does get boring about halfway through and playing it now, the game will feel very dated. The controls are sluggish and awkward too which isn't a good thing for a platformer.

Yeah the prices where in some cases for me around £40 and that's used.

EDIT:

I just decided to download it.

I'm not paying £40 for a game to go into some guys pocket.
