The age of majority is the age you're legally considered an adult and therefore able to claim independence from your parents. You're either a fetus or an alien if you're not an adult until then.

The same thing happened to my friend. He was playing with C++ one day in the college lounge, and some old student yelled he was hacking into the school. Even after we proved he was working on an assignment for his C++ class.

This isn't punishment, he did it to my brothers laptop and he's going to do it to my moms once he gets another copy of Macafee
And secondly he never set rules. There were times when he told me to get off the network because it was running slow but he never said "don't do this" or anything of the sort regarding my internet access

In most states (All?) as it turns out, even once you're 18 you don't escape your parents grasp. If they claim they require your care (No proof or explanation needed: you're their parents) then police are required to return them to you until you're 21.

Well I know that if a 19 year old leaves our liberal state, authorities in other states can be forced to find and return that legal adult, so I imagine it's the case in most or all states.
