My dad installed the latest version of Macafee (damn it to hell, kill it with fire, etc) on my computer which unfortunately has parental controls. That means on week days macafee allows me to use the internet until 10:30pm and on Saturday nights 11:00pm. He also blocked filesharing and for some damned reason that messes with Chatzilla so I'll be using the webclient until he fixes that
As for my privacy. Last night while my dads Ipod touch was off it would keep connecting to apple every 30 minutes (why, I have no clue). It was pissing him off that a fifth device was connecting to our network without his approval (yes we have security) so he logged into our router in an attempt to block it and found out it was connecting to apple and then realized it was his ipod touch after he turned off the Wi-Fi and it stopped. While in the router he found out he could see my browsing history.
So I pretty much have no control over my internet and have lost the little amount of privacy i had

Hacker, you've been getting in trouble because you've been staying up late on the computer, and burning out the router over night, and other things your dad's said not to. Honestly, Hacker, it's your own damned fault. Your dad set rules, you broke them, he's punishing you. He isn't being an asshole, you were being a dumbass, and now you're being a whiny brat.

Agreed. This is what you'll come to realize is called "parenting" Hacker. This is what it's like to be 15 (or however old you are) and have parents who care about you. Unrestricted internet access 24/7 can be highly destructive to young teens and yeah, if you've been shitting the bed about how often you use it and what sites you visit, more power to him as he attempts to rein you in a bit.
Look forward to getting on your own two feet and moving out, then you can do whatever you want.

This isn't punishment, he did it to my brothers laptop and he's going to do it to my moms once he gets another copy of Macafee
And secondly he never set rules. There were times when he told me to get off the network because it was running slow but he never said "don't do this" or anything of the sort regarding my internet access

It was a birthday present.
Even if I did buy it my dad would have put it on or told me not to use the network
that's the reason I just don't uninstall it. Well, that and if I do it reports it to his computer

Sounds like our little hacker has finally hit his Teen angst stage of his life... Your parents pretty much have all rights to do this only because, well they are your parents. Maybe it's time you grew up and stopped complaining about the little things and got on with it. You should be so lucky that you are even able to have internet in your own damn room. We had a family computer that could only be online through Dial-Up and by the time we connected to anything it was 1 in the friggin' morning so I don't want to hear any bitching about having times when you can't get on. Not only that, but anything I looked at everyone else in my family could see, so you having "no privacy" means exactly shit. A little restriction here and there never killed anybody... wait no strike that... a little parenting and maybe a good slap across your face would be best.

What the fuck do you want to do on the net after 10:30 PM? It's not like you have to close your computer, so just play with whatever you installed on it.

I'm on the opposite end of this. My Brother and sister have autism ans as much my mother wants them to be sheilded from the evil internet but still beable to go on youtube and repeat the same video 500 times.
I think she's overacting but when it comes to protecting her young my Mother is a bit insane.,
So I suggested they get Net Nanny. WONDERFUL filtering program. I install it...dad gets lost...my gets pissed becuase it blocks ebay.
Ok fine. I say Get the Microsoft filter all you need is MSN. Mom goes on a tirade about how it's freen and because it's free it sucks.
Between this and my other suggestion they get the idea from somebody at our church to install Open DNS on the router. MY ROUTER. I told them I'd install it on the 2 computers that need it but if they touch my router it's getting reset.
My Dad is thinking about getting Bsecure. I'm like whatever just don't expect me to install it for you.
They really only need a filter for their desktop as the Laptop my Mom and Brother uses will be dead in 6months anyway (it's a 3 year old Dell my uncle gave them.)

I guess I won't comment since I don't really have any internet restrictions really.

Then I can tell his dad he;'s a moron for using Macafee then. It's worthless unless you have the enterprise edition.

Get a job, a data plan with a mobile phone company and a phone that can browse the internet. If you want you can get something like PdaNet and use your phone as a modem.

I'm not a bad enough dude, but I am an edgy little shit. I'll do what I can. |

Yeah, but that is the solution.
I've noticed teenagers labor under the delusion that they're, like, adults with, like, rights and stuff. Sorry, kiddies. Until you're 18, you're your parent's bitch. Like it or not.

Haha, I know. It's a disgusting trend. I have lived on my own since I was 17, and legal or not at the time, I never looked back.

In all seriousness, I have actually seen Hackers level of maturity rise since 2008. It's something to behold, for sure.
