Someone ever played one of the versions? One of them is free and is called Trackmania Nations.
Just google it, it's easy to find if you want to try the game.

Here are some videos to show what it looks like :

some guy trying to beat a record but hitting just about everything on the track

a track completed by just pressing on the gas. I'd like to get a car that hard to break.

I have the original Trackmania. It's pretty much like "Stunts" or like driving in "Super Cliffhangers" slot cars. Pretty fun games.

The first video is not Trackmania Nations, it's Sunrise. It's NOT free. Nations is. Trackmania Nations is fun for a bit, but after a while it gets old. The fact that cars take no damage, and that you can't collide with other cars makes it feel really lonely, even in a full game. You feel like you're only racing yourself in a time trial...because you are. It's definitely fun for a while though.

I liked this. I think you can create your own tracks and stuff?

This reminded me so much of when I had Streets of SimCity and SimCopter, and I had so much fun with using my SimCity 2000 cities to play and blow shit up.

Yes, you can make tracks. Quite easily, at that.
